Here is what I’ve documented about my withdrawal. It’s not like full blown opiate withdrawal it is a very gradual withdrawal process. Keep in mind I was abusing subs taking 48mg a day… main reason for quitting is that and not being able to sleep… I have terrible insomnia and often stay up until 5am wake up around 2pm so the following is based on my sleep schedule I just described. The ~ x mg is the most amount of the drug I have in my system for that day.. so I halved what I had the day before and whatever amount I took that day I added to it. Day 1 Sat- no medication (felt okay, up until 8 am, woke up around 4:30 pm) ~ 24mg Day 2 Sunday- one strip at 6pm (woke up around 5pm felt like crap- nausea, no energy, cigarettes tasted like crap) ~20mg Day 3 Monday- super tired, weak, nauseated. Took anti- nausea meds. Fought with myself all day to not take more. Need a bath but I know how excruciating that will be. ~ 10mg Day 4 Tuesday- took 1/2 a strip so I could shower ~9mg Day 5 Wednesday- had to take the other 1/2 woke up with a terrible stomach ache and runs. After taking it I still feel like crap. Drinking lots of water ~8.5mg Day 6 Thursday- felt like crap. Went to bed at 5am, woke up at 2pm. Took anti nausea meds still couldn’t eat. Drank a little coffee, smoked almost a whole cigarette and laid back down. Slept until 7pm. Drank more coffee, smoked another cigarette and took more anti nausea meds. Sense of smell is becoming stronger. Still have hot sweats. Unable to walk much or start a fire.. a little cool but feels good under blankets. Took 1mg around 8:30. Went to lay back down in bed around 9. Found a peppermint candy cane I ate and squirt that was all I could eat and it felt good on the stomach. Slept from 11-12am. Got up at midnight when I couldn’t sleep more ate a slice of cold pizza, made tea and smoked my 3rd cigarette today. Usually a pack a day smoker. ~5.25 Day 7- woke up around 9 am tossed and turned for an hour before. Body hurt. Was able to eat 1 piece of toast. Laid back down around 11:30/12 slept until 2pm. Took 2mg played games. Ready for bed around 9:30. Fell asleep for less than an hour. Out of sleep meds. RLS started yesterday it’s almost unbearable makes it very hard to sleep. Took vit c and magnesium ~4.625 mg Day 8- after taking vitamin C and magnesium chloride I was finally able to sleep without RLS but it was in my arms a little. Laying on my arms helped. I was sweating hot all night, tried to cool myself down and then I was freezing. Woke up around 9/10 am tossed and turned. Finally got up to get coffee (it helps) and smoked half a cigarette. Laid back down until about 1:30 and feel a little better. I feel I’m through the worse of it now. It’s 2:15 and not hungry but I know I need to eat. Smell is starting to come back- sneezing and strong smells make me sick. ~2.31mg I used a half life calculator to calculate how long the drug will take to get out of myself and that is 6-7 days if I didn’t take any during the withdrawal process. But I wasn’t going to allow myself to be miserable. I have animals to take care of, it’s winter I have to haul in wood and start fires it’s my only source of heat. I feel more like I’m hot and sweaty than cold and sweaty.. but when I go outside to smoke I hurt lol I also have a Red Bull and cigarette addiction that I’d rather not detox from on top of this so although I’m gradually using less of both my goal is to get thru the sub withdrawal. Again, it’s bearable I watched my brother sleep for a week (wish I could do that). But again insomnia… I only have anti nausea meds but your doctor can prescribe others to help. Ask them. I know that you’re not supposed to use more than 3 subs and I hate that I did but I am an addict. I want to stop and that’s all that should matter. I used half of Christmas break to get through the worst as my son is at his dad’s for half. I will update with more honest symptoms and hope to be through it soon! I think some people on this app (not this poster) mainly people in the comments try to scare you to stay on it because “it’s worse than coming off H…” it’s not! I tried tapering but I’d rather suffer in a week than for months.

Well, you can slowly taper down. The only horror is people that are on a dose and lose their way of getting the medication. In 4-6 months you can slowly taper and once your down to 1mg per day you keep taking as little as possible until you can take 1/2 mg every other day. Then just keep doing that for 3-4 weeks. You’ll be manageable after that. Will still be uncomfortable but manageable IF you can get Sublocade injection of 100mg when you taper down to 1mg per day you’ll be in really good shape. 2 months on 100mg shot and you’ll be fine. I’m a 20 year Suboxone veteran

Methadone destroyed my testosterone levels, now I’m on morphine and taking between 300-700mg a day. Get your testosterone checked because if the subuxone or other opioids have destroyed it, your quitting will be much worse. Many. Need TRT because of opioids. I hate them so much but still taking it… the brain is… not easy to control.

The sublocade shot helps come off it quick. The half-life of sublocade is 60 days vs 36hrs for Suboxone which is why you feel like shit around day 3-4.

I quit this stuff from 8mg per day about 15 years ago. It was just tablets back then. It took a few months to get back to 100%. Now I'm back on it again 3 strips per day, 24mg per day. That's a high dose but my opiate habit was so extreme even 3 strips per day didn't work for a few days I was in hell then stabilized. I've been on it about a month now and starting to plan the taper. There's no way I can jump from 8mg again like when I was 20. Planning to taper to .25 or lower....

Nausea and appetite were a big challenge for me along with having to jumpstart myself and force myself to do things that used to come easy without thought(mental fog also was involved in this). One thing I look at as so valuable is electrolytes, if you can find a drink that you like it will help. I couldn’t always take in a bunch of water because I was nauseous for a long time. I went from 12 years on 8mg sub strips to 6 for 3 days 5 for 3 days ect all the way down to 2 mg which I used for a week same with 1 mg and took my last dose Nov 19th. Have great moments and am feeling more clear, but energy is a challenge still and there are a lot of bearable obstacles throughout.

Hey from the UK look up "Esprenor Buprenorphine" this stuff is really strong and harder to kick its withdrawal symptoms are as severe as methadone seriously if it ever is prescribed in the states get people to do there research because its been prescibed nationwide here in the UK as a cheaper type of Buprenorphibe im day 9 off and first 5-6 days felt like a methadone rattle but its alot stronger than suboxone or its has a higher antagonist to your op receptors id rather of done a subutex/suboxone detox hands down compared to this stuff its nasty stuff

Its even easier with a sublucade shot. I was on 15 year heavy kratom addiction, and could not kick the habit. Was deciding 6 months weather it was worth using suboxone to quit kratom - and finally did it. Jumped on subs for 6 months. went from 2mg up to 8, and then took single 100mg sublucade shot. I dont feel any euphoria from subs, im now 3 weeks into sublucade shot. I im still on the fence weather to take the second shot or call it here. Been easy sailing.

Everyone talks about sweating and being hot when going through it meanwhile I’m over here on day 13 and I broke my damn air conditioner days ago because I had that shit on full blast for a week and it wasn’t draining right. Everybody’s different and everyone’s going to get hit differently. So many different things factor in. How much you took, how long you were on it, how much you tapered down too, your metabolism, reasons for quitting. Ppl that are in your life etc. me personally, I’m lucky enough to be able to take time away from working and focus on building up my mind and body while getting this poison out of my system. I’m making myself eat 3 fairly heathy meals a day hungry or not and for the last 3 days I’ve forced myself to lift weights and do push-ups and sit ups. I just know my appearance, confidence and motivation to look my best sucked on suboxone and I know if I don’t fix that I’m 100% going to end up getting high again. So if I’m going to go through this pain and isolate myself for a month or two I’m going to make sure by the time my mind is better, my body is too. I can already see more color in my face not even two weeks in. God bless every one of you. Pray for me, I’m praying for us.

Well done, I’m down to 0.4mg from 24mg, over a year tapering off, dreading the last 0,4mg drop, in three weeks time, trying to get addiction Dr to drop 0.2, which we have over here in England, I was a full blown intravenous heroin addict from age of 30, the last ten on buprenorphine, my last reduction I ended up washing codeine out of cocodamol, till I was banned from every chemist, then went back on to 24mg of buprenorphine. I m 61 now, and it’s ruined my life, so getting to 0.4mg is good, but dreading the final drop, you’re video helped explain what to expect, thanks mate, I see this post was 9 months ago, so prey you are well, and happy in you’re new job, regards, Simon
