What if they don’t fianchetto the bishop? Doesn’t the attacking plan change if black doesn’t have a kingside fianchetto structure?

Brilliant work as ever Moi! However, I do take issue with the move 7Qe2 being brand new. I have a book called 'Sicilian Defence 5 Four Knights Variation' by L.M. Pickett. Chapter 5 is entitled Najdorf Variation: An Optimum White Queen. That chapter is all about 7Qe2. To give it credibility Pickett says that Mikhail Tal has employed 7Qe2. I cannot find any such game (it is not in Megabase 2022). The book was first published by 'The Chess Player' (David Levy) in 1976.

You are absolutely right. It’s not a new idea, but it hasn’t been used for more than 30 years and then Prag revived it again! As Fischer used to say, something brand new or very very old…
@fancitickler5 күн бұрын
Nice. Still doing a hybrid approach to the Sicilian's in general. May play this against the booked up Najdorfer's in Scotland that only talk a good game. (They're like London players they tell you in advance that they play it!) Furthermore, I'm still trying to find a killer line or complete refutation against the Sveshnikov/Kalashnikov/Pelikan version of the Sicilian. 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 e5?! Thanks for the excellent lecture.
@MiodragPerunovicOfficial5 күн бұрын
Vs Kalasnikov 5.g3!?
@fancitickler5 күн бұрын
@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial Thanks for that. Makes sense, (sample line 1.e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 5. Nxd4 e5. 6. Nb5 d6 7.g3 instead of 7.N1c3 book stockfish recommends 7.c4 +0.48 and N1a3 +0.32) reinforces d5 via the Bg2 (where else is it going to go?) Short Castle, push c4 for a Maroczy bind, tuck the King to h1. Essentially push black off the board by having a strong centre, more space. If black plays ...f5 take it as d5 is open for the Bc4+. Also White has the intention of playing f2-f4 contesting the f-file. At present looking at 7.a4 with the intention of using the two knights to attack d6 and the bonus of a possible Rook lift Ra1-Ra3 with the intention of bringing the Rook over to the Kingside. But I am going off on a tangent here. g3 line will definitely look into it. Thanks again for the recommendation Mio. Best Regards

@@fancitickler You made one big mistake! You were referring to Stockfish assessment. Do you know how many times I chose intentionally bad position -1 even more for my opponent because I enjoy it and he doesn’t and I won easily still. Play what you enjoy not what Stockfish enjoys, because you cannot carry on like Stockfish anyways!
@fancitickler5 күн бұрын
@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial Very true. In my club there is a candidate master who plays very much in the style of Stockfish extremely solid and positional (whom I have only beaten a couple of times) French Rubinstein and Open Spanish/Berlin both where I had white and won. The openings where very sharp indeed. The rest of the players are starting to get booked up in certain openings. I pretend to play my 2nd, 3rd or 4th best openings saving my best opening for the serious matches. They think that I only play 1....e5 against 1.e4 cough cough Caro-Kann, Sicilian, Alekhine depending on what they play against 1.e4 I'll play it! Use their own openings against them. I play at least four openings each against 1.e4 and 1.d4 eg I played the Double Muzio gambit (Nf3 ....gxNf3 sacrifice with Bxf7 Kxf7) against one of the top players (Blitz) beat him by having control of the f-file. Ouch *da da da daah* But that's another story. I agree with you that playing lesser known lines gives your opponent more rope to hang himself! Keep up the great work Mio!
@fancitickler4 күн бұрын
@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial I stand corrected. I do agree that I have played many a game where I've been -3 or -4 down but managed to win by superior piece activity. Thanks for the advice g3 line regarding Kalashnikov will cook up some home preparation. Just in case I play Anna Cramling! *da da da dahh!*
