If I ever switch back to 2. Nf3 in Sicilian instead of 2.Nc3, I'm going to try this. As Black, I'm not afraid of wing Gambit, but this one I am more wary of. Thanks for the attractive lines, and the many beautiful tactical example games. Certainly the content we like to see here. thanks Mio

I am playing the Portsmouth gambit since like 2 months in rapid and blitz on 2000 elo. I am literally winning every single game nobody knows how to play against it.

Thank you for your great work as always Mio, the Portsmouth is a lot of fun ! However, you seem to have omitted what is perhaps the most critical line for Black in the entire gambit which is 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 b4 Nxb4 4 c3 Nc6 5 d4 cxd4 6 cxd4 e6 ! Here there is no doubt that 7 d5 Qf6 gives White considerable practical compensation but it is probably objectively unsound. Other 7th move options for White seem to give Black an improved version of the French Wing Gambit as White has liquidated his c-pawn rather than his a-pawn

By the way, it's missing the variant recommanded by K. Plichta: 3. Nxb4 4.c3 Nc6 5. d4 cxd4 6.cxd4 e6. 7.d5 is bad after Qf6 so we continue with 7.Nc3 Bb4 8.Bd2 Nf6 9. Bd3 O-O 10. O-O d6 and by exemple 11.Qb3 a5 12. Rc1 but it is not so easy..

Could you cover deferred wing gambit against ...d6 and ...e6? I have been playing this since I have seen Schrantz's portsmouth gambit video. I get transpositions in those other lines, but some of the critical lines are challenging.

There’s a really funny line I had after 3…cxb4 4. d4 g6 5. d5 Bg7 6. c3 where black thinks they can get away with 6…bxc3 because of 7. dxc6 c2?? with a double attack on the queen and rook, but 8. Qxc2 Bxa1 9. c7! traps the queen in it’s starting position. Such a fun opening
