As an avid user of Chat-GPT Plus, I'm more interested in the accuracy and speed of answers given. I hardly ever pose questions to an LLM pertaining to coding or mathematical problems which are areas I've read that Deepseek-R1 does very well in.

From my research it seems like deepseek is simply a distilled ChatGPT. I.e they use ChatGPT outputs to train the model.

you don't need to use NVIDIA for inference, you can use Huawei Ascend or GROQ chips.

I don't understand how DeepSeek came as such a shocker many people. We know for years now that open source models become more and more impressive (i.e. newer llama models) and are only a fraction behind. It is nice that because of the innovations in test time compute and model distillations open source models are becoming so close. Maybe this is even more fuel for competition and the market - leading to more adoption etc like you explained with the light bulb analogy.

Randomly stumbled upon this video. I do think its quite a risk to try start your own company at a young age (you look in your twenties?). A safer, more common route is to quite quit your day job, build up your side hussle to the point where you have future contracts locked in, then pull the trigger on quitting your salary job. Finding a reliable partner can also be a huge help. Best of luck 👍

btw, i know everyone uses apollo for leads, but i personally prefer linkedin sales navigator or plain old linkedin. people get to see a face, and can go through your profile. emails are WAYYY too messy. most people just skim and ignore, so makes it much harder for startups to get attention. I think email WAS a good formula, but that inbox is just soooo dreadful to look at, tbh even i hate checking my email inbox lol
