I recently setup a 150 gallon tub to act as a settling tank for my pond. I have a small pump supplying it water at the top, and it drains from the top so that pond particles and gunk settle to the bottom. At the end of May I rescued a new tiny broken hyacynths and water lettuce plants to sit in this tank to extract nutrients from the water and to shade it. It's now July 1st and these plants have nearly covered the top. Yes, they are very aggressive and I can see how they could easily damage a natural waterway.

They love caves and dark places they sneak instant inside

Or you can use multiple smaller air pumps like dual AL-40's... only need to turn on what you need, smaller pumps are quieter, and when one fails you still have the other as bacckup.

3:29 this is really wrong information. Emerald Dwarfs do not get on well with Kubotai Rasboras, the Kubotais bully the danios and don't let them eat. Since removing the Kubotais from my 45 gallon heavily planted tank the emerald Dwarfs are breeding and fry are growing up on their own, add some pygmy Corys and it'll be perfect. Loving. these little dudes.

this was the best male/female sexing guide. like, i could SEE the wrinkles, finally. it looked to me just like a line that swooped under the eye from the outside corner. and the yellow on the boys was prominent as was an almost line in the dark patterning. super clear, thank you for putting them in that smaller container for us. wow 7yr old vid and still the best one i saw on this and also unique info to other stuff that's out there. : )

How do you get such strong suction with your gravel vac? I’m trying to hover over and pick this stuff up but it’s not strong enough and I wind up getting closer and closer until I get a bunch sand with it and it swirls all around together and I have to pinch the tube and let it back down.
@RachelOLeary20 күн бұрын
The bigger diameter tube and tubing, the more suction. Maybe size up your vac if you aren't getting enough suction, also, make sure what you are suctioning into is below the level where you are suctioning so gravity helps

Hello -- Is there any information on whether cherry barbs can be kept with shrimps? Or will they eat the shrimps?

It is my first time dealing with shrimp, ( well other than 👻 Ghost shrimps ). I have only purchased them from one Petco, 3 Amano, ( although I don't think one is an Amano, it is a chocolate brown with a cappuccino froth colored stripe down her back), 4 Bumblebee, 3 Lemon & 4 Cherry). I've had them for a few weeks now and they all appeared to be fine and very active and all looked fine, ( but then again I didn't exactly know as to what I should be looking for), until yesterday... Yesterday I noticed the weird green garden on 2 of my Amano. I have removed them from their tank and placed in a spare), I am so glad to learn that I just might be able to save them. Thank you so much for the information

I just have an established group of 12 of these that I want to try breeding. Hopefully I can get them into a tub for the summer and get some good color from them
@andywait9491Ай бұрын
Love my white clouds, started with 6 they spawned so much I've now got 140 last summer not so much (Probably due to building work in the house) but this summer another 60 fry so far! I've added 6 long fin for a bit of genetic diversity, It's a great excuse to buy a bigger tank now too 😉 👍

We caught a bunch of tiny fish in the pond out back and put them in a tank setup in the garage. Took it as an experiment. Out of the bunch, which are mostly Gambusia, we found 4.1 Heterandria Formosa. Temperatures here in Central Fl. can be in the 40s F. winter and high 90s F. summer and these retention ponds reach the mid to high 80s getting beat by the sun all day. With that being said, they have been living in another tank we had set up in the garage as well. 5gal standard, sponge filter, Ramshorn Snails, pearlweed, moss balls, fluval strat, red volc rock, a golden pothos resurrection, spangles and duck floating. Eating Cobalt Guppy food and frozen brine (1x wk.) 10% water change weekly, and weekly liquid tests. Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite consistently 0 and PH 7.2. GH & KH unknown. Temps 78-85 F. Observing them daily and watching how they interact with each other is fascinating. They have bursts of color on their fins and spotted pattern on their heads along with the cool side pattern. The males will follow each other around and joust while the female just casually snacks around. Occasionally catching the males harassing her. I've even seen them bump into the pothos repeatedly and eat whatever shakes loose. I truly enjoy these tiny natives and they have really piqued my interest in live bearers.

@FusionDeveloperАй бұрын
One of my favorites. Not because of the color or activity, but because of the size, they reproduce easily and being a non-aggressive species that doesn't eat their young. I've caught other small fish species that are prettier, but they were aggressive, so they didn't stay.

They are pretty efficient shrimp eaters. I kept amanos with them but they would definitely try and eat cherry shrimp
