I’m excited. My brother has schizophrenia. All meds he tried had severe side effects while not helping as much as hoped for. I hope this will lead to a lot of people being able to live their lifes with dignity

Excellent question, I'm not sure actually since the mechanism of action is slightly different. Donepezil is also approved for the treatment of Alzheimers dementia not usually for schizophrenia

I have it in my freezer. I’m TERRIFIED to take it. I’ve binged on pros and cons and Dr Bikman and yourself have convinced me it’s not safe. I have Lyme disease which has left me Sooooo sensitive to many things. I’m on no pharmaceuticals and want to keep it that way….

That’s a myth, whites have the highest rate of med school acceptance all other factors the same at 44% with Asians at 43% blacks at 35% and so on. The rates is of malpractice is the same no matter what the race of the doctor. Also, white doctors 97% more likely than any other race to get into med school through nepotism and other unethical manners, such as doing chomo stuff with other whites. Also whites doctors are 220% more likely to molest a of age or under aged patient. That’s why Epstein was able to get away with it for so long because the so called “non-dei” whites would protect and participate, and only got exposed once other races got a fair chance at working in the juridical system.

with respect, when as much or more time is required to exhaustively document each and every step of care to CYA, one is ,in effect taking care of the patient twice. This of course, is not considered doing More care and is not credited to the extent it consumes work time much less effort. It is not surprising, and Not acknowledged as a reason for the significant decrease in quality of care in hospitals as perceived by many patients as previously important tasks such as bathing, oral care,bedside ROM, turning and positioning, grooming, bedside interviewing and educating may be documented more often than performed. Medications and tests administered are performed and added charges to patient bills, but baseline nursing care is something staff are "too busy" to accomplish . I don't believe it is the fault of the staff. Whether assisting with invasive monitor insertion or discharging a patient, there are only so many tasks/unit if time an average human can accomplish. From my experience "work smarter, not harder" is what staff are told to do, but managers do not come to the bedside and Demonstrate the "dance steps" that will make this happen.

I 100% agree Colleen. Unfortunately, the US is a litigious nation and us doctors are usually the ones blamed for any and all errors in the entirety of the healthcare system. And unfortunately as well, I've helped physician clients who were amazing at documentation and were still named defendants. Documentation is vital, but indeed, the actual medical management is what matters the most.

I'm very interested to see how this series develops. I know my dad talks about how bad residency was in the 80s, how it just about drove him to end things. Obviously that didn't happen as I'm here, but it's interesting to hear the how of how some of that changed.
