What’s the width between the tines on the bending forks? Great video!

I really liked this project idea. I want to try these, and some based on these with modifications. Idea is...use longer round bar, make a second smaller hook on other end, then use a handy piece of material and the hammer to fuller a flattened roundish tab for the lower rivet in the round bar. When you are done, you have a large hook up top to hang a winter coat, with the smaller lower hook for gloves or knit hats, caps, etc. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for showing the way it went down...keeping it real. Makes it easier for the rest of us when we make mistakes...and then have to fix them or start again. 👍

I really appreciate that you made it clear - sometimes a tool is simply a tool 😂. And btw nice 22.5 writing inverting the five made me thinking if this is perhaps a negative .5 degrees ? well done , stay safe and healthy

How do you decide how tall the face of your anvil should be? I had wanted to get into Blacksmithing for so long. Unfortunately I can’t handle all the hammering. I can get 30 minutes or so before I have to stop. Then I’m out for the count for a couple of days. I thought about a treadle hammer or maybe find a used electric log splitter and get someone to weld on flat ends like a press… I saw a video of a bunch of guys building homemade power hammers over a weekend. That would be cool if I could afford it.

You put your anvil where the end of your hammer swing is. When you swing a hammer, it goes in an arc, your anvil height should be just before that arc starts coming towards you. Its usually right around your beltline.

i think i will give spatulas a try, ive been considering it a while. One thing that has given me pause when making cookware, is the rust issue. I can see with this project how making the head out of stainless could help but how about forging with it? Or perhaps a food safe, washing machine friendly surface you might recommend?

Thanks for the video. I made a couple of knives a few years back that were very crude but kinda proof of concept for me really. This video kinda shows me my next steps if I were to carry on where I left off.. quite inspiring if I may say.

I'm so happy I found your channel! Love the fact that you show how to get started in blacksmithing without spending a ton of money. I teach beginner blacksmithing to teens and the tips you provide are PERFECT. I plan to share them with my students who are looking to set up a simple shop, but don't have much money to spend. Thank you!
