@@tjclare1942 I was taught without it. My old mentor, chuck jeske threw mine away. 🤣He painted brewery windows. He said it slowed him down. I use it occasionally,very rarely. But for me it becomes a crutch. I learned it’s what you get used to. As long as the job looks great when you’re done , it doesn’t matter. Thanks for watching😎😎

@@rickbendi8709 Sure, & one last question...I would have thought that placing the painters tape on freshly gelled areas would have stuck or pulled some of the pattern off, but obviously not. I would have thought that you would have to let it completely dry, & gel stain takes a _LOOOOONG_ time to do so.

@@Kman. the tape is not pressed down hard. It’s just lying on the gel. And tho it takes a long while for it to dry, it sets up rather quickly. I use mineral spirits to thin the gel which helps it set up quicker.

If I'm doing a larger surface area, can i spray clear as adhesion instead of brushing? I'm planning to use urethane paint as well since I'm doing it on a sidecar😅

I’ve never sprayed the sizing. You would have to thin it out, im not sure that would be good. I always use it straight. Use a 1” fitch to brush the glue, you can cover a lot of space with that. If you do spray it, do a sample first. Good luck. Thanks for watching 😎

What type of paint would you recommend using as the base coat on a wooden floor (i.e., latex or oil, etc.) Then, after the gel stain, what would you recommend for the top coat since it would be a floor? @@rickbendi8709 very cool. yeah i’m actually looking at using this for screen printing on guitar pedals. apparently a lot of guys use sign painting and pinstriping paint instead of ink when printing on metal. i’m gonna give it a try. I tried pinstriping a long time ago when I was airbrushing racing helmets. i could never get my paint to flow for very long. you make it look so easy. nice work

@@eross21 I’ve done lots of striping on merat. It works and holds up great. As for thinning… it all a mater of feel. You don’t want it to thin, or to thick. Just play with it. You’ve done it before so I’m sure you’ll be great at it!!!

It will hold up fine, that vehicle will not see a lot of weather or abuse. I would not use that clear on an everyday vehicle , I would use an automotive urethane. But the enamel paint will be great. I use that to letter trucks and pinstripes thanks for watching 😎
