This method is used commercially with some sodium nitrate added for some reason. We used it for very fine fragile wires in a cryogenic application where nicks could have cost $millions if the wire broke.

Great info... I now have at least a clue to begin troubleshooting...just watching this I suspect one/some of those big diodes causing AC into the protection "thingy".

Is there any way to derive position from the pwm signal? I’m trying to replace a galvo scanner with one of these, but I’d need fairly precise position detection or prediction.
@lazarusmagellan2367 Жыл бұрын
Alternatively I can use a custom made optical encoder..
@TheLightningStalker Жыл бұрын
I think there is a photodiode or something to detect the start of a scan.
@lazarusmagellan2367 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLightningStalker Ok, that is cool. I will check the pinouts. I sourced two out of an old HP printer. Theyre both four sided, and i wasnt sure how they derived position/RPM, but there was a small metal tab near them so I assumed maybe by measuring the change in capacitance as the metal gets closer and further away? worst comes to worst I can 3d print my own encoder and use the leftover IR LEDs and silicon photodiodes from my galvo.
@lazarusmagellan2367 Жыл бұрын
when i was taking apart the optical assembly, a small PCB (1cm by 1cm) popped out. I didnt see where it came from, but it had a small black dome on it which is very likely an IR sensor. I think the way they get RPM and position detection is by measuring the frequency of when the IR laser hits that little PCB. it would be much easier than building an encoder inside of the polygon mirror.

Hi, I have a question, maybe you could give me some advice. I would be very appreciate . I bought a Longevity Force Cut 40d and found it not working, but after bridging the overheat fuse it started and working. However, when I press the switch in the gun, nothing happens, but this does not mean that it is damaged, because I checked it with a multimeter and the switch works properly. I think something is damaged on the bottom PCB board and the relays are not turning on. I took out the board but I don't know how to check it with a multimeter. Can you help please.

If you knew how much you could sell that knife for (potentially) then you would probably stop using a hammer on it. I'm not certain but it looks a lot like mine, though the handle is a different color tone. (I accidentally broke 1/4" of the tip off of the blade and then found out how much it would cost to replace it). Could you tell me about any names or characters on the metal part and I'll let you know if you have a winner. Btw thanks for taking the time to explain how to open those things; its too bad that they just can't put them together with screws but the glue is probably much less costly.... Best regards...

We have a deaf cat that adopted us a few months ago. She’s started spending more time inside. We were REALLY confused when we started hearing these sounds. We’ve now learned it was directly related to the random socks we find around. She hunts socks and this is how she lets us know. It’s intense but now we understand.

What role does the 1mhz clock signal play in this? Is it controlling the laser's gating, or the motor? It sounds like the motor's speed is controlled exclusively by voltage, but it also looks like laser is just a handheld source... what is the 1mhz signal doing?
@TheLightningStalker Жыл бұрын
It's a time base for generating the multiphase commutation of the motor coils, iirc.

And I thought MY car is driving me crazy! Yikes! After she became deaf a couple years ago, my orange 18 year old cat does the exact same thing sporadically, but not in such a long stint. It’s as if she’s in agony or even lonely. I’m home most of the time and she has everything she needs. Vet said bloodwork is fine. Just wish she could tell me what’s going on. :-(

So what blew up on this machine and what was the fix? I don't see any burned boards or anything. My Cut50 packed it in suddenly after about two hours use so I'll refer to this video for trouble shooting it. Thanks for posting this!

It was something on the small control daughterboard. There is no visible damage but there's no output into the power switches and the LVPS is fine. I haven't done anything to repair it.

Instead of wasting time on a bunch of nothings, screwdrivers and compounds why don't you go to the meat of the matter. How do you determine which pins on any laser diode connects to what? And how do you know if any of the laser diode is good or not in the first place, using a multimeter? Look, it is easy and simpe to test a pin diode. That is not an abbreviation by the way. A pin diode is your typical two leg circuit diodes you see everywhere. The long leg goes to positive and the short leg to negative of the power supply. If you want to know how to check these diodes uisng a multimeter, you simply put your mulitmeter on diode mode and probe the two legs. If you place the positive of the mulitmeter to the long leg and the short leg to the ground negative of the multimeter, you will see the led lit up if it is good. Straight forward and to the point. Now how the hell do you check these laser diodes. mr expert?
@alchemy12 жыл бұрын
esd? What is that and why people just want to abbreviate things/ Is it a show off, that I am educated or people are to f-ing lazy to say a complete word, or is it that suddenly time is too precious to waste on saying the full word. Either way.... people are dumb, impolite, rude, egotestic adulescent wanna be's that can't wait to throw it on people. They the other same types who do the same thing back them up. No different than them street gangs lingos. These same gangs mentality moves over to science. No different..

I love cats. I love the sounds they make. I love their little personalities. I also love the people that love them. What a joy you have in your life! My cat can sound like this, but only with a toy in his mouth and only when he’s “strutting his stuff” haha! It happens almost every night at human-bedtime. I liken it to the big boss Lion strutting back and forth warning the jungle not to mess with his family while they’re sleeping OR ELSE! 😹

hot weather makes me so miserable, i've thought about holding a flashlight in front of my riding mower. mosquitos are too bad to use the push mower at night. i would totally do that. i have mowed the front yard at 11pm. i thought it was 10. it's electric, so not loud. i don't care if people think i'm weird, i just don't want to keep anyone from sleeping. i also don't care about the grass, but the city will complain.

actually you can modify this machine to a 3 in 1 stick/tig/plasma. that;s what I've done with mine if you take a look at 9:44 next to the blue capacitor there's a connection soldered together, just put a toggle switch to connect and disconnect. if u disconnect it then the welder output will always live for stick welding, the tig switch solenoid and the HF will not working, if it connected then it will work for tig and plasma

Good vids' can I ask a silly question. is it possible to connect a non pilot torch to a pilot plasma machine as I like the idea of using a touch arc instead of a pilot arc for plasma cutting. I have a cut 50A machine.
@TheLightningStalker2 жыл бұрын
I don't know exactly how pilot arc works so there is a possibility that it could damage the pilot arc machine by using a touch start torch with it. There is also the possibility that the torch will just have a pilot arc on the pilot arc machine anyway if it is something generated internally by the machine. But if it's generating a high voltage to start the pilot arc and the arc won't start because of the non-pilot arc torch, that energy has to go somewhere and often times that somewhere is the insulation of a HV transformer that may arc internally and fail short circuit.

Many years ago in the early days of KZbin (when this video was made) my late grandmother would obsessively listen to the radio, turning it on and off, frustratedly changing stations constantly day and night. I think it was to the point where I didn't even hear it anymore. There isn't a way to remove it without reuploading the video. My newer videos do have quiet background.

My 19 year old cat has been doing this for 6 months. I've caught her doing it into a corner a few times. I'm a singer so I know that is a technique to amplify your voice. She does it many times throughout the night too. As well as every morning until everyone in the house is awake, so she can go to sleep. 😒
