That has to be horrifying at night when you’re not expecting it.

I can tell you...yes it's just as jarring as you think....and no, you don't get used to it! You think you would after a while, being several times a night...every night....but its just as startling. Every. Single. Time. We are going on 4 years in my house, and I wouldn't trade my little Nam vet for anything in the world! The poor guy even sleep screams, he yowls like this in his sleep every so often, not much anymore, thank God! I hate to think he's having nightmares, so I gently wake him up and hold him until he seems to know where he is. He is such a chill little trooper, and I'm proud to be owned by him!

I love cats. I love the sounds they make. I love their little personalities. I also love the people that love them. What a joy you have in your life! My cat can sound like this, but only with a toy in his mouth and only when he’s “strutting his stuff” haha! It happens almost every night at human-bedtime. I liken it to the big boss Lion strutting back and forth warning the jungle not to mess with his family while they’re sleeping OR ELSE! 😹

Since they can't hear, they don't know how loud they're being. So cute!

Cute until you have to deal with it every night, lol.

My deaf cat is much much loud and sounds just like a baby wailing. She screams all the time, when she is hungry, when she wants in the bedroom and when she sees another cat outside. Sometimes yes she wails just because, I think's it because she is frustrated. 💜💜🐈🐱

We have a deaf cat that adopted us a few months ago. She’s started spending more time inside. We were REALLY confused when we started hearing these sounds. We’ve now learned it was directly related to the random socks we find around. She hunts socks and this is how she lets us know. It’s intense but now we understand.

My cats aren’t deaf, but they’ll carry a baby around in their mouths and yell kinda like that

My 19 year old cat has been doing this for 6 months. I've caught her doing it into a corner a few times. I'm a singer so I know that is a technique to amplify your voice. She does it many times throughout the night too. As well as every morning until everyone in the house is awake, so she can go to sleep. 😒

And I thought MY car is driving me crazy! Yikes! After she became deaf a couple years ago, my orange 18 year old cat does the exact same thing sporadically, but not in such a long stint. It’s as if she’s in agony or even lonely. I’m home most of the time and she has everything she needs. Vet said bloodwork is fine. Just wish she could tell me what’s going on. :-(

Only when he's in one of these weird moods, usually at night.

Mine does. I think she likes the reverb in her head also.

Neither myself or the vet can tell if my boys singing is from becoming mostly deaf(mostly blind for years) or if he is getting cat dementia....honestly it's probably both. How is your darling doing...still screaming? Is this the whole night, or just when in a mood?
