Hi Robert good morning. Can you please say to me how did you set the TROW of flight control surfaces and the exponential of them in your radio (all the settings)? Thanks. Regards. Giorgio.
@robertshaver4432
@robertshaver4432 5 ай бұрын
Giorgio: That's a very complicated subject to put to words in a comprehensible format. Let me think of how I'm going to do that. Your mechanical set-up on your aircraft will be different than mine so I can't just blurt out radio settings and expect the same or even acceptable results Thus my descript has to go far beyond just radio settings. I once wrote an article in our club newsletter on this subject and that's what it took "an article". Give me some time to think about how to convey a proper answer to what you are asking. I'm sorry but the subject is very deep in descript. Thinking: Robert

Thank You! It's the original Black foam wings Le Fish kit. The wings had a design flaw that made them break easily. Luckily, I knew of this and strengthened them. If you find a Black foam wings Le Fish kit "buy it" but inquire me for the easy fix. The new Le Fish flies much differently, I prefer this one. Thanks Again: Robert :)

Hello Robert! Love this clip: it gives me lots of ideas to develop my skills and is very instructive. I once owned a second hand fish, but due to inexperience I lost him at the foot of the cliffs. What is the weight of yours, CG, lest in this case? Thanks for your info! And, please, do not stop posting!
@robertshaver4432
@robertshaver4432 7 ай бұрын
Weight is just over 1 1/2 lbs., CG is about 6" forward of the root trailing edge. The new Le fish is different than this one, it's faster but I've never seen them do double flips. Speaking of which: I just posted another video containing clips of flight #1 of this day (this was flight #2). Lots of double flips that I forgot to do in this vid lol. I would instead however recommend an AHI sailplane. It flies a-lot like Le Fish but maybe even better. It's a-bit expensive but so is Le Fish. I want an AHI because I believe it flies even better than Le Fish and I think it's tougher too. The old Le Fish (like this one) is a-bit fragile. Black foam wings means it's an older Le Fish, If you find one in the box let me know and I'll tell you how to toughen it up. I would buy another "black foam wings" Le Fish BUT to be honest... I'd prefer an AHI. Cheers: Robert

@@mikesrcgarage I'll check it out! Yes I made the same mistake. You go up on the Barstow side. Calico exit but go the other way, take the very first road that basically doubles back towards Barstow right next to the freeway go about 200 yards and get into the dirt on the left, find the dirt access road, it'll take you all the way there. When pavement begins either park at the bottom sharp turn or back up to the gate (about 200 yards. walk around the gate and up the road. there's a sharp bend (kind of and out cropping) with a small chute (as caused by the sharp bend) it's kind of the second sharp bend, the sharpest bend. To land walk up the road to the top, it's a blacktop road so easy walk. careful of the power lines when landing lol, they're towards the back so they're OK but beware. Google maps what I just scripted and I'll bet you'll find your way. The dirt road is obscure from the doubled back road. And is for big truck access to the towers so It's not bad, I got my car up there without bottoming out, a truck would be easy! Google maps and 3D it for better decerning. Cheers: Robert

I'm a keen model plane designer myself. I see a lot of pointless gimmick designs but this one I think is really great and makes a lot of sense. Makes me wonder why its not been done more (or at all?) with fullsize design. Well done that man 👍

Thank you! Yes no gimmicks, every strange shape/angle for aerodynamic reason, I applaud you for seeing that. I cannot explain its sailplane like glideslope however, it came as a great surprise and I still can't figure it out without using a-lot of wacky maybes lol. I expected a bi-plane like glide slope and it's more akin to a sailplane glideslope. Go figure ha. Thanks Again! Robert

@@robertshaver4432 Very interesting. Unless its a thin wing section I'm thinking it might be due to one wing swept forward, the other swept back and between the two and the end plates they do good stuff for vortex control thus reducing induced drag. @@robertshaver4432 Next thought might be that propellor thrust (even on tickover) might enhance airflow through the 'box' formed by the wings and end plates. 🤔
@robertshaver4432
@robertshaver4432 9 ай бұрын
@@mikeonb4c Exactly! And beings it's a double box with attached airflows throughout the laminar flow shaped fuselage sides and all of the surrounding wings, it causes? Yes I know there's no way that the fuselage flows will be laminar flow but, the late expansion or rearward thick point keeps the airflow properly "attached" for the critical length/portion the fuselage. The top ,bottom and side wings are all slightly toed in, the double box prevents trailing edge downwash as well as zero Leading edge upwash and that causes? Something wonderful to occur that can only be defined via wind tunnel testing! The glide slope achieved is "impossible". I'm completely befuddled. 🤔
