You may not notice this for a while, but construction material assemblers go through resources like hot knife through butter. Something for the end game to worry about when you'll start building blast furnaces with related infrastructure. Additionally, note that the Radio Tower requires 10 kWh to run. That's a major strain on ignium-based power (will consume ignium much faster) and early solar power plants. So, you may want to shut it down while not in use. You only need it to assign tasks. Otherwise, it's nothing but a decoration.

For those struggling with the contraption wasting all the spanners and not repairing the filters, after building everything, try removing and replacing all the logic durability readers (This was a fix for the same problem in 2.0) Besides that, try not building it with already broken filters, I think this may cause some problems as well

11:56 I see you are still not understanding the elevators. Or doing this intentionally at this point. XD 15:12 And that's why we don't make sushi elevators. Sushi belts are already a horrendous idea. XD It's almost sad that it didn't work at all, instead of kinda working, but getting stuck every few minutes due to wrong ratios. 24:40 I wonder when you realized that assemblers don't pass resources to each other, and that output on a side works just for the one it attached to?

@@Krypt0nite BTW, I decided to run my own experiment with sushi elevator and... it actually works. Kinda. It didn't for you because you had it full of glass already, so you had to drain the glass first. There are three things determining throughput of an elevator in this game, and that is inventory size of every individual cart in it, speed of those carts and spacing between them. As you might have noticed, there are visible carts going up and down, and they do so relatively slowly. Each represents a separate inventory of fixed size. You may observe this in action if you connect a faster belt as input or output to a slower elevator, since it'll take items in and release them in batches instead of what a single piece of slower belt does to a fast one by spacing items on it. Technically, you can load and unload every individual cart faster with multiple loaders, but that won't change the throughput since the cart representing that inventory still have to move from A to B and the elevator can't release carts faster and keeps spacing. Another important thing about carts is that they are a single slot inventory. They hold only one item type at a time. So, what does happen when you connect multiple different item types to it? Elevator generates a new cart and start to take in items from one of the inputs. This works just fine, but since there are multiple loaders, another one attempts to push an item through. Since it's an item of a different type, the elevator can't load it on the cart it already generated. Instead of doing something logical and continue loading procedure from that previous loader, it releases an active cart and creates another one for that new item type. The cycle repeats from this point. Every time it encounters a different item type in one of its inputs, the elevator pushes the active cart and generates a new one. However, this can not and does not affect carts spacing or speed. They are created and released at a fixed pace. As the result, each individual cart is going up or down filled only to a fraction of its capacity and the entire system slows down to a point that using Mk1 belts is faster and predictable in speed. Unlike belts, these carts end up transporting random amounts of items. So, not only they are slow, but completely unreliable in terms of ratios.

* You can dump extra science packs into research machines and into machines producing these packs. I see you have quite a few in a manual storage. * Pipes have throughput up to 30k a minute, as I know. You'll need 20 pump jacks to fill one without pumping efficiency upgrades. I got away with 4 for a long while and I did infinite research. You don't rush even normal one. * From my experience pumps are kinda useless. I've used them only right after pumpjacks and right before my olumite processing facility to divide pipes by priority. So, when olumite node runs out pipes near pumpjacks would be sucked dry first, so I could dismantle them without losing olumite. Later added a bit more sections. * On the topic of fuel. Don't make any except jetpack fuel. Things may change in the future updates, but right now any fuel for boilers above raw ignium works worse than raw ignium or about as bad and require olumite. Also, solar power is infinite. There's no vehicles requiring fuel.

@@Krypt0nite As I know you can use up all 30k water per minute from a water intake. Just connect to multiple storages and time it. Make sure to use pumps right before every storage to prevent backflow. Then add more intakes to the same pipe. Last time I checked the result is the same, so it looks like the pipe is the same as intake. Alternatively, try to use over 30k water with boilers. Make sure they are under full load (energy grid in red).

3:40 Next time you find yourself in this situation, try to press V. ;) 6:05 Believe me, it's getting annoying to swap between multiple tiers of belts, slopes and balancers. Even worse, when you accidentally use a low-tier balancer on a fast belt and wouldn't notice. Better automate whatever you unlocked asap and use only these belts, slopes and balancers from that point. Just make sure to add a recycling bin or multiple to feed lower tier belts, slopes and balancers back into the system for upgrade since manually inserting them into machines getting annoying over time. There might be some rare case when you may want to use a low-tier belt to throttle a balancer for a weird split, but I never encountered one like this myself, and it's never a problem to craft 1 piece of a belt specifically for this purpose. Also, you need 2× the amount of T1 crushers to smelters for glass. You'll unlock T2 crusher soon if you didn't yet, I guess. They are 2× faster, so you can direct-feed them to smelters. 9:40 I think you misunderstood how elevator works. :) Nothing wrong with the floor under the bottom elevator piece. There shouldn't be a floor or any other building anywhere between the top and bottom pieces, since they connect to each other. 22:27 Ctrl+Q. Strange that the game use Ctrl in this case, while Shift for click-copy mode and to start mass-deconstruction mode. It'll become an inconvenience later with a jetpack, since Ctrl used as a key to descend / drop.

Kinda. I don't regret building 24 biomass per minute, though. The problem here is olumite. It's kinda cheap, but in the very late game it's the only resource you can't get in infinite amounts or transport over long distances without pipes. At least for now. I know devs working on cargo ships for liquids, but that won't help much, since Olumite still runs out pretty fast if you crank science production over 10 per minute and go into infinite research for mining and pumping efficiency. I know it really doesn't matter, but it still feels wrong to use for explosives the only resource you can't get in infinite amounts.

29:51 I'd like to mention that this T-junction does the job for machine on the right since it have a port marked as input, but nothing for machine on the left since the port is locked (note icon under it). I suppose you re-connected the left port for the left machine off-screen, since it would stop eventually otherwise (500l of water in a single pipe segment only goes so far). What I really like about your factory is that you planned the logistics floor from the beginning. I started without one, so now 3/4 of my factory is over the land I have to dig out whenever I want to bring resources somewhere without overhead belts.
@lainverse
@lainverse 19 күн бұрын
5:45 Ah, so that's how you came up with 25. Considering water is effectively infinite, that's quite unexpected point of reference. XD Especially considering you decided to build them all on a single belt. This works solely because you consume much less power than this setup can provide, so boilers run much slower than 20 ignium per minute. ...and water consumption is slowed down by the same factor, so you can run as many boilers as you wish from the same water intake in such case. They'll just slow down even more. XD In the best case, you won't need to upgrade this at all since 8 boilers is quite enough to get to the solar power and in the worst you'll get away with upgrading that belt to T2 to support up to 16 of them running full speed. 10:57 Again, weird point of reference. Just place as many as your grid require. By the time I had to place 5th, I already unlocked their better version. ...are you doing it all backwards intentionally? 11:55 A little tip: Press Y next time you try to build a column. I was blind to that message right in the middle for quite a while. 12:55 The game just gave you a way to bring power wherever without foundations. And yet here we are. 16:56 One of your transformers is connected to one or more power-poles not connected to the rest of the high-voltage grid, as I understand. 22:43 Oh, you will need them. Just not 5 T1 storage worth of them at once. They are only used in Science Pack T2 recipe and the rest is mostly you piping around.

1:43 I'd like to mention that you can attach turbines directly to boilers without a pipe too. You'll have to find a place for power poles on the outside, though, or make a plank/roof above the turbines and use a wall-mounted power poles. It can be rotated to look like it's attached to a roof. 2:29 I'd say about the efficiency "it depends". :) As far as I know, boilers consume up to 20 ignium per minute, so you can run 8 from a full T1 belt and 16 from a full T2 belt. It doesn't really matter how many you make as long as they cover your needs, though, since they burn slower when you only consume fraction of their power. You'll lose a tiny bit more ignium with more boilers than you need due to extra loaders needing extra power, but that's negligible. Personally, by the time I needed more power than 8 generators could provide I had already unlocked solar power. 7:10 Note that all kinds of burner generators will turn on during the night no matter if you have batteries or not. Also, the most important question about solar power everyone eventually asks is "what is the ratio of solar panels to generators"? Roughly they are like this: 2:1 small panel to small battery 8:1 small panel to large battery 7:2 large panels to large batteriy These are not precise numbers, but they are convenient to deal with and you are going to overbuild anyway to leave room for growth, so having a few more solar panels than absolutely necessary won't be an issue.

5:22 Some of them are convenient to have on hand, some not. Fuel that is not for your jetpack, so worthless to carry around: Ignium Fuel Rod and Fuel Rod Casing - nope. Also, I have no idea why ignim fuel rods exist, to be honest. By the time you unlock them you are 1 step away from infinite power. Coked Ignium - only used in a blast furnace for now. Jetpack Fuel - I don't think I need to explain, you totally need it. :) Robotics production (these parts are worthless for any other purpose): Hydraulic Pyston - late-game intermediate resource only used in robotics and crafting a production line for that, so not worth carrying around yet. CPU and Robot Parts - completely useless for anything right now except crafting robots. Telluxite Waver - used in CPU production and you can't even hand-craft them. Not worth it: Wire Coil - terrible. Just carry 1-2 stacks of rods. Concrete - used only in a couple buildings you won't be building often, so not really worth having at hand at any moment. Biomass - outside of burning it as a fuel only ever used in explosives, you'll be better off automating their production instead. It's possible to automate the biomass, but you might replace Explosive with Olumite-based recipe. Up to you, but in either case you don't want to have biomass in your backpack. Explosives - components of Explosive Charges and useless as-is. Portable Fuel - worthless. I haven't found a reason to ever use it anywhere. Construction Material - you can't use this yourself. Anything made in a crusher is useless to carry around, so Ignium Powder, Gravel and Cement are all out. Mediocre: Machinery Parts - so-so, only saves a bit of time, you may just bring Xf plates. Energy Cells - you can't craft these from a backpack and they are used in some recipes. You may want to automate a few of those recipes, though, and the rest are very situational. So, it's not really worth having them at hand all the time. Glass - not often used, but somewhat worth carrying a stack around. Totally worth it: Advanced Machinery Parts - absolutely worth bringing a stack or two. You'll need them a lot and they are more compact than 2 stacks of Machinery Parts and a stack of Steel. You'll need steel at hand anyway, though. Electronic Components - these are 2× more efficient to bring than rods and used quite often, so it's worth having a stack at hand and they are annoying to craft from rods in large quantities. Circuit Boards - another important resource for buildings, so definitely yes. Polymer Board - used in a few late-game machines, so worth carrying a stack around. Also, always bring a few stacks of Technum Rods, Xf Plates and a stack or two of Steel. Other things worth to have at hands: * Most handheld items. Not very useful to have all the time: Modular Building Planner, Paint Roller and Plumber Tools. Get rid of your Mining Drill after you make a Mining Laser too. * A few stacks of belts, a stack of slopes and balancers, building blocks, all kinds of loaders and pipes. * All kinds of power poles. Most things I listed above are near worthless to store separately from a bus, though. Maybe in some small quantities and definitely not in multiple thousands. Probably the only exception are building blocks. 23:28: 12, but how many of them are active at the same time depends on whatever you select to research. Some things take eternity to research because consuming packs 1 every few minutes while other reseach consume them every 30-45 seconds. I only produce 8 science packs of every type per minute, so for a recipe requiring 120s per pack that's not enough and for infinite research like Pumpjack and Miner Efficiency that's too much since they take 45s per science pack and that's enough only to keep 6 going. 29:56 You can upgrade your miners, but you also can build more miners and output them on the same belt. ;) BTW, note that you can upgrade buildings by selecting better version to build and point at whatever you want to upgrade, so you don't have to delete and place new building. You can upgrae entire belt lines if you have enought belts and slopes in your inventory. These upgrades stop at the nearest balancer, though and you have to upgrade them personally.

4:47 Why are you like this? Are separate belts an artistic choice? Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful, but that's too avant-garde for me. In the early game I preferred 3 miners to 8 smelters on a single belt. It's always better to over-mine resources than undermine productivity. XD 16:13 Did you know that loaders don't have any throughput limit in this game? You'll get the exact same result with 2 as with 4. Your only limit is your max belt speed and how fast you consume these resources down the line. Multiple outputs per resource are only useful in what we have for a late game right now when you output on multiple belts from storage. 17:50 I wouldn't recommend this approach at all. It works terribly with 2-block wide slopes. Any kind of wave pattern on a bus turns into a nightmare when you need to split things off the bus. Personally, I'd recommend to always keep at least 1 empty line between every line on the bus even if they are the same resource. I prefer to stack lines with the same resources on top of each other, but that's my personal preference and these stacked belts turn into a fence that gets in the way, so probably not my brightest idea. They are very convenient to bring down and connect into line below, though, so you only ever split from that one line at the bottom. 19:04 Observation: Wires are useless on the bus. You can only ever use them for Electronic Components. There are electric wires too, but you never need too many and hand-crafring them on-demand from rods is faster than going to pick them from the storage. Especially when you are really far away from it. So, eventually I removed them from the bus entirely and fed them directly into assemblers crafting Electronic Components. Another reason to never bring them on the bus is their quantity. At some point you'll need a full belt of ECs and wires on the bus will become a bottleneck. 23:18 I made this mistake and still suffer from it. Do not place anything right in front of the control panel. You'll get back at some point and try to check the rates and with stuff in a way that won't be a nice experience. 29:08 Good sir, we have a giant auto-generated map. We have plenty of space to spare. Especially along the bus. Any attempts to make it compact will return and bite you in the posterior hours later. You may try, but the spaghetti will only turn more entangled over time and you build a bus exactly to avoid this mess.

I think its slightly better to leave room for expanding smelters and crushers (you'll need it as you advance on tech) and the ratio will change, so probably just use slightly longer conveyor than just straight feeding 2 smelters with 1 crusher. Just a little bit future proofing to make upgrading less of a pain. I just place one line of crushers and then conveyor the clean ore in middle of 2 smelter rows, which then empty on other sides. It's ofc up to each individual how they want to arrange their smelters, be it single line or more.

Great minds think alike, I’m sure a lot of people with experience in these games will have the same thoughts but I thought a lot may also not be aware 😁

Edit: I wrote this before finishing the video. And you say towards the end it's a 2:1 ratio between crushers and furnaces so good job on that! Great video. I discovered this myself. You can do 2 furnaces to one crusher using this method. I've got 8 crushers to 16 furnaces. 320 in, 480 out. So got that twice for Xeno and Technum and then using balancers I get 3 full 320 belts out onto my bus.
