Hello, how big/tall was this marionette? I wished you still made the personal faces. I have 4 grandchildren that would LOVE them. I live in United States, Texas. Since you are ni longer doing the personlized faces, do you know of any Marinette Builders that would personlized a face here? Thankyou. Love your work.

The marionette from this DIY kit is approx. 31cm tall (12 inches). Even though I no longer make these kits, I have tutorials (one on Etsy as a digital book, and another one on Skillshare) on how to create a marionette of the same size (from wood and clay). When it comes to personalized marionettes, I don't make them anymore (maybe I will again in the future), but I am sure there are other puppet makers who make personalized marionettes, too. I don't know any of these puppet makers in person, but I've seen some of them advertising custom marionettes, or marionettes based on photos, e.g. on Etsy.

What is the material you use first on the wooden spoon for the heads?
@Barbora.MihokovaАй бұрын
It's wet shredded paper mixed with water-based white glue and starch powder (soluble in cold water).

The marionettes from this video have already been sold, but now I offer another one on Etsy, here's the link: www.etsy.com/listing/1780668836/pako-handmade-marionette-puppet?click_key=04688d25546d249b5ccc57fdd99792ded73d89d8%3A1780668836&click_sum=0b5ed428&ref=shop_home_recs_2&frs=1. I am currently mainly focusing on our puppet theater, so I seldom make marionettes for sale, but when I have time to create some, I sell them on my Etsy shop.

Is the whole marionette made from clay? If so what type of clay? Air dry or they type you need to bake?
@Barbora.MihokovaАй бұрын
The body is made of wood and to make a head I use a combination of materials: first, I create a wooden core (which is inside the head) and then I use shredded paper mixed with water, water-based glue and starch powder to form a basic skull / basic shape of a head. The shredded paper is cheap and lightweight, and when squeezed well, it can be very solid and firm. That’s why I use it to form a base. Once this base is completely dry and rock-hard, I sculpt the face features using an air-drying sculpting clay.

After the basic skull is created, I let it dry completely. Then, I use a fine air-dry clay to sculpt the facial features.

Could you tell me , what the name of martial that used for hand and face
@Barbora.Mihokova Жыл бұрын
To make a head I use several different materials. There is a wooden core inside each head, then papier-maché layer - as a basic skull (shredded paper mixed with water and starch powder), and an air-drying sculpting clay on top - the facial features are sculpted out of this clay. I always sculpt in layers - I let one layer fully dry and then add another. For hands I use paperclips as a core and then air-drying clay to form the hands

Hi, I had created only a limited number of these kits, to see if people are interested in them at all, before creating larger amount. I'm currently most focused on puppet performances. After I gather some customer feedback on my kits and also improve the process of creating them (I don't have a workshop yet, I make them at home), I will consider making another batch :)
@Doyle-nl3xc9 ай бұрын
I too would be interested in purchasing this DIY kit especially in a performance size like 60 cm. How large is the one you put together on this posting?
