I love this video but my favorite part was watching it move at the end. It was so lifelike.

I’m making a marionette puppet at school and your puppets have inspired me, I’m wondering how you sew and attach the hair to the head.
@Barbora.Mihokova2 жыл бұрын
To make the wig I use mending threads - I wind them around a book and create two sections of hair of the desired thickness and length. First, I sew one section of hair in the middle, then I lay the other section on top of the first one in a cross shape, and sew them together in the middle. After that, I brush the wig, apply water-based white glue onto the head and stick it on. But there are more ways to make a wig - one of them, for example, is using a wig cap.

Hi, I only created a limited number of these kits in 2022 to try it and see how it will go. It turned out that making these kits at home (I don't have a workshop, I live in a small apartment) wasn't a very good idea. I spent hours fixing air bubbles, there was resin dust everywhere, and the production was very expensive, too, so even with the relatively high price for a kit it wasn't profitable at all (I only just managed to break-even.). Therefore, I rather decided to make a tutorial on how to create each piece of a marionette from scratch, using materials like wood, clay, and metal fasteners, instead of ready-made kits.

I usually use wood, clay, and metal fasteners. But these kits were made from polyurethane resin.

Hi, I had created only a limited number of these kits, to see if people are interested in them at all, before creating larger amount. I'm currently most focused on puppet performances. After I gather some customer feedback on my kits and also improve the process of creating them (I don't have a workshop yet, I make them at home), I will consider making another batch :)

I too would be interested in purchasing this DIY kit especially in a performance size like 60 cm. How large is the one you put together on this posting?

Hi can u try to do a video on the puppets that paint like how the hand mechanism works..? I subscribed lol love your stuff

Hi Sophia, thank you so much for your comment :)The wrist joint I make allows hand movements (it is attached to the forearm with a nylon string the same the way the beads are threaded), but the fingers do not move. If I ever make a puppet with moving fingers, I will definitely post some pictures or make a video.

I don't make these kits anymore, but I offer tutorials on how to create a marionette from wood and clay. Currently, I am mostly focused on our puppet theater and puppet performances, but when there's time, I also create marionettes (made up characters) which I sell on Etsy.

Hello ! Do you make your puppets with a 3D printer?😊
@Barbora.MihokovaАй бұрын
I haven't tried to use a 3d printer yet. I think the production would be way too expensive (as well as resin casting), which would make the price of these kits astronomical (plus shipping). That's why I rather decided to make a tutorial on how to create a marionette from scratch, using wood and clay.

Hello, how big/tall was this marionette? I wished you still made the personal faces. I have 4 grandchildren that would LOVE them. I live in United States, Texas. Since you are ni longer doing the personlized faces, do you know of any Marinette Builders that would personlized a face here? Thankyou. Love your work.

The marionette from this DIY kit is approx. 31cm tall (12 inches). Even though I no longer make these kits, I have tutorials (one on Etsy as a digital book, and another one on Skillshare) on how to create a marionette of the same size (from wood and clay). When it comes to personalized marionettes, I don't make them anymore (maybe I will again in the future), but I am sure there are other puppet makers who make personalized marionettes, too. I don't know any of these puppet makers in person, but I've seen some of them advertising custom marionettes, or marionettes based on photos, e.g. on Etsy.

Can you do a video to show us how to get the hair and clothes without sewing because I cannot do it.But still great work❤
@Barbora.MihokovaАй бұрын
I don't know where to buy clothes and hair for marionettes, because I always make my own. Maybe you can try to search for doll clothes and accessories. I plan to make some easy sewing tutorials as well.
