That leg from Petria Thomas was phenomenal. You do know that she was the silver medalist in the 200m butterfly in both Atlanta and Athens?

So, how many of these Russian swimmers were part of the state sponsored doping program? I know it's a rhetorical question.

Nystrand is fascinating to watch, and to the stopwatch. His kick tempo for each leg is different where the 3rd kick (2nd for other leg) is a dolphin kick for the respective arm stroke. It can’t be explained other than a swing rock and roll off beat that works. His body briefly hits high frontal drag each cycle but he uses it like a wave to surf over. Furthermore the extreme straight arm recovery just adds to this highly complicated but effective machine. Stefan, if you read this man, you are a sprint legend.

Awesomeness by Petria - difference between a butterfly specialist and Jenny Thompson who was a relay specialist. Liesel Jones was great too, Amanda Beard knew Liesel was tracking her down the whole way. I always liked the Aussies chances in a medley relay when Liesel was swimming the breaststroke

@joekendras3 ай бұрын
@@Sanks247 He did not technically retire until 2007. He struggled to find the motivation to continue after 2004, and wasn't in top shape which is why he opted out of these worlds, and just never got the motivation back until 2012 when he tried a comeback. Sometime 2007 was when he announced and decided he was retiring.

Petria Thomas is just incredible. Handed a full body-length deficit at the 200m mark, and then just completely destroys Jenny Thompson’s lead, and hands over to Jodie Henry with a lead.
