Thanks! 😀 I'll be honest, I'm yet to see a self-converted van with doors that are nicer than these, it was a lot of work but the finish is so good, it was worth it!

I've had van conversions with and without bulkheads, pros & cons for both setups. As we're all fickle humans, and sometimes change it good. From having a bulkhead to no bulkhead. That said, I certainly laughed at your entrance from said front of vehicle to rear via your "hatch" ;)

You could have lowered the hatch and built the shelfs higher.Im converting a cargo trailer into a camper.I spent 4 yrs building mobile homes and cargo trailers

Heya! Not quite, the bottom of the hatch lines up with the top of the seats, so there'd be no point lowering it, and the top of the cupboards are as far as they can be before the angle changes again, trust me, I've used every little space 😂

It does what it says on the tin. A normal daily car and somewhere to put your head down when you want. I imagine the new van is more camper and less car.

If you haven't already, Check out Ireland's (WAW) Wild Atlantic Way.. It's beautiful & it's suprising the longest scenic coastal road trip in the world. If you are going to do it start up in Co Donegal & travel right along the West coast visiting the many places all the way down to the bottom of the island in Co Cork. It's an adventure 🚐..💨

Duh, just typed a whole long question asking whether you've had yours weighed yet and then seen the reply below. We just had ours weighed last weekend - 3240kg fully loaded, but we still have the shower room to finish (just the top layer, plumbing and toilet cupboard to go) and some drawers and a few other things, so we'll need to be careful. ps. We were on a neighbouring pitch to you at Quirky last year 👋🏻...

Easier and quicker to just over lap one end 2 or 3 cm and tuck it over itself for a nice finish then gluing them together and cutting on the outside.

Well done. What have you put underneath your vinyl floor? Have you ply of some sort on top of insulation?
@vanventureswithjodie
@vanventureswithjodie 3 ай бұрын
Hiya! In this van there was a really dense and high quality ply flooring already installed, so I just removed the hardware and added the vinyl. No added insulation because it's already such a limited vertical space, but the ply itself does add some insulation which is often forgotten about.

Hey everyone, lots of people keep asking for the link for the rubber trim - annoyingly it keeps jumping around different URLs on ebay, but I'll try to keep it up to date as much as I can. I've also started building a webpage for every single item I've used in the entire build, which you can check out here - vanventureswithjodie.notion.site/fdfef29580254c6892f2664151ff9011?v=8e6916db2b564504986000750703b072

I like to make sure that the exhaust points outside the bodywork of the van. There are a lot of weep holes in the bottom edges of the body that let water out and air in. You don't want the exhaust gases to find their way into those.

I tested silicone and cyanoacrylate on one of the cutouts from my windows. No cleaning no sanding: Silicone peeled of rather easily, superglue left a thing film of rubber. Cleaned panel: Silicone tore before the rubber, superglue same as before. Cleaned and sanded surface: Silicone tore again before the rubber, superglue same as before. Superglue every time, much easier and faster to apply. I used black cyanoacrylate with rubber content from Amazon.

Hi Jodie, I've just found your channel and love the quality of your conversion. I've recently started converting a Boxer and was impressed with the rubber channel you used to finish the carpet edges, unfortunately the link you left on the video doesn't work. I looked on eBay and there are loads! Are you able to send another link? Good luck on your travels, cheers Baz.

I don’t think it’s got anything to do with gender - you’d have received that note regardless of your gender - that’s the way some people are - they mistakenly extend their feelings of entitlement or residence to publicly maintained roads and footpaths. Legally parked is legally parked. We agree that everyone should park considerately - whether a van live-aboarder or a resident living on a street or road. We encounter house owners who don’t like us mooring on the public towpath opposite their home - but they have zero right to have us moved on. These are just petty people who want the world to revolve around them. Life’s not like that.

Oh yes, I don't think the note was gendered, I mean the internal plague of constantly apologising for our existence that we are taught as girls

Hi Jodie Enjoy your vids. Bit surprised you've made one about your "right" to live (park up) wherever you like. As a fellow campervaner I have a couple of questions for you. In the residential areas where you are living, who is paying for the following? Maintaing the road, verges, streetlights, drains, trees and hedges. Treating and disposing of the water for drinking, washing. Treating toilet waste. Collecting and disposing of rubbish (litter bins, local tip). Dealing with antisocial behaviour issues (not van life related). Answer:- It's the local residents through their council taxes. Are you contributing to these services you are benefiting from? What would happen if lots more people took up van life and did the same thing? Can you understand why local residents might not be happy about that (other than being small minded nimbys)? Good luck and keep making the vids.

Like I said in the video, if there were designated spaces, I would use (and pay for) them. I have visited some places with motorhome parking areas, but they are a rarity. If everyone was living in vehicles, it would fuel the need for better facilities, but most people take their campers to the continent where it's more accommodating. I do pay for a lot of facilities privately (like gyms), and to charities (the canal and river trust provide toilets, showers, and bins at marinas which I sometimes use), or I visit friends and family and offer them a contribution towards water, electricity, etc. I also litter pick anywhere I see it needs it. And anywhere I go I spend money in the local businesses. I hear where you're coming from, but I can't pay into a system that doesn't exist, and council tax is charged per property, not per person. I do what I can to contribute, given the tax system I have no control over.

I don’t think there’s a such thing as stealth. People are going to notice when you live in a vehicle. I think it’s just important to not be nuisance to other people and there’s usually not a problem.

There are vans and 7.5 tonne lorry camper conversions down the road from me and there have also been a couple of women living in a van outside of my flat. Some of the camper conversions look pretty decent. They cause neither myself nor anyone else anything that could even be deemed as reasonably close to "bother" so carry on as you are, ignoring the NIMBYs.

I need the title of this video printed on a t-shirt. Part of the parking problem is the minority of vanlifers who are anti social; leaving rubbish behind or tying a washing line to a lamppost etc. I was literally talking to someone today about paying a lot of money for caravan sites, when campervans hardly use any facilities. I think it was the Caravan Club who used to let you service your water needs and use the showers for £5. It was ideal.
