I have this camera. I bought it a few years ago for $10 at a monthly camera show i used to help promote online. So the owners gave me free cameras and film as payment. Plus one vendor had the $5 table and the $2.50 table. So I bought most of my canon Eos cameras and Nikon N90 and N90s camera bodies there. One of your photos I saw a red sunspot like on the right upper corner. At 5:20. After you say country roads take me home is the photo with the red sunspot.

You got an amazing deal on that camera. I need to start going to some photography shows. You are correct about the spot, its just a hint of lens flare. Sometimes it looks nice, but I'm not a big fan of lens flares produced on that particular lens. Great camera anyway, thanks for the comment.

I just got the exact same lens to test out 35mm! The Minolta vintage lenses have a history of being radioactive up to a certain year. Due to this there may be yellowing in the glass because of the thorium. Other vintage lenses have this characteristic as well but it highly depends if the radioactive elements have degraded or not. Also when it comes to shooting manual focus on mirrorless, I find that focus peaking helps a lot.

I've been told that Nikon EM's are unreliable. I'm 54, my father bought an EM when I was 10, I was given it as a hand me down at age 15. I used to shoot motorsport with it, an E series 100mm and a motordrive, great combo. A few years ago the film winder broke, easily fixed, apart from that the EM is still going. I ususally feed it B&W film these days and I retired the motordrive....replaced by faster cameras! Great 'street' camera with a 50 or 28 attached....E series lenses of course!

In 1979, I saved up my money to buy an OM-1 for the equivalent of about $1,200 in today’s dollars. As a lefty, I love where the shutter speed ring is located. Too many cameras designed for right handed folks. Think about it 🤔. The great thing about these cameras in that time was the OM System: An array of excellent lenses, and accessories like motor winders, focusing screens, eye cups, the list goes on. It was a good time to be an Olympus owner. Even if the camera’s meter battery died, you could continue shooting with it as long as you want.

You really don't have to swap out the batteries that often. The only thing I wish the F100 had is 100% viewfinder coverage (I think it is like 95%). Thing is solid in my hands. @@AmericanExpatDaily you just need one or two solid lenses for that F100. I have a bunch of Nikkor glass because I been shooting Nikon DSLRs for about twenty years now. With film I find it that it best to just have a solid lens and learn it. I hardly ever take that 35 off the F100 unless I put it on my D750 (which is also a great camera). The M3 is great and I got that in a trade for a Fuji X-T2 (I like to say it found me). The experience is a lot different. Both are great cameras and both give you access to great glass.

Nice thing about the F100 is it can use almost any Nikon F mount lens from manual AI (it reads the F stop from the lens coupling and works in A and M modes) to up to the latest lenses (G series work, VR lenses work, all modes work) so you have about sixty years of lenses to pick from. It has the 10 pin connector so it uses all the 10 pin accessories standard to Nikon cameras (not the latest remote controls or sync to flash). It is recording the photograph settings (including the lens type if the lens is chipped), and the data can be dumped to a compact flash card with the right card reader connected to the 10 pin connector. The F6 was upgraded to use the latest flash system (F6 can use all Nikon flashes) unlike the F100 so the last Nikon flash that worked with a Nikon film camera is the SB-800.

@AmericanExpatDaily
@AmericanExpatDaily 3 ай бұрын
I love panning shots. I guess it makes sense that they would be taken at lower shutter speeds otherwise you wouldn't get the effect with the background. I will have to try it for an upcoming video. Of course there are no race tracks around, so a car passing on the street would have to suffice lol.

@@AmericanExpatDaily cars are the easiest things to shoot using the panning technique. It took me something like 10-15 photos on a DSLR to master it completely even on film. Bicycles? Hmm, not so easy, but manageable. People running? Like in sports? Very difficult. Still not mastering it. You know why? Their speed is inconsistent, their moves unpredictable and it is far easier, as I was to discover, to move your camera in a steady manner, not shaking it, when moving it fast then when moving it slowly

When 1/1000 s can really make a difference is when you want to isolate a little your subject from the rest of the frame in full light, like when it's sunny, 16 sunny. Then, even with the most common 100 iso film you won't be able to go down (or up?) to F/5.6 without a 1/1000 s shutter speed. And I'm not talking about 200 iso or about F/2.8
