Normally this bead roller will handle steel "up to 18 ga" according to Eastwood. So has this modification enabled you to work with 16 ga steel or even heavier material? TIA for your replies.
@MagnaMachineWorks2 күн бұрын
Sorry for taking so long to reply. I am not an engineer and cannot answer that question appropriately, but I can say the flex between the plates is virtually gone. It still flexes a little, if it was double plated it would be better. But it works a lot better

Great video. I'm a fairly new welder. Been trained and had some industrial structural stick experience just not might and/or exhaust. I'm designing my own exhaust from the tips of my long tube headers for my 6.0l ls motor that's lsa boosted and I've bought 2 kits to do this and am excited when I find a video like yours specifically that give me new ideas. Thanks again. If you have any might tips for settings that would be cool. I have a 120v titanium from hf and it's great just new again at getting her dialed in just right. Thanks again.

Thank you! I appreciate the comment. That sounds like it will be a deadly combo making pretty big power too! I haven't made videos in some time, but I am working on some sheet metal welding videos for autobody. Eventually I will do exhaust videos.

hate to burst everyones bubble, but there is only 1 horsepower differnce between mandral and regular bends
@MagnaMachineWorks8 ай бұрын
I would like to see the science of laminar vs turbulent flow and delta P on the flow rate. Not saying that is un-true, but better flow would be more efficient across the RPM range. In this example though, you can get way tighter bends than you can crush bends and the mandrel bends look way better

Thank you so much for this video! I'm from southern India and I can't get no local welders to pie cut a custom exhaust for me. My motorcycle is up on the jacks for a month now due to the lack of a custom bend pipe and I've been watching a lot of pie cut related stuffs on KZbin lately. This video came as a suggestion and this is the direct solution to my problem. Thank you so much for this video once again.

Beginner for sure. You can always use pieces of tape to hold the pieces together and peel it off once its tacked. You can also use a grinder and a zip cut to cut your tubing

What size ID & OD shaft stops were used for this project? Also...what type of metal should the stops be made of? Thanks for posting this video - great work!

Thank you! The ID is 1 inch, i beleive they are standard 1-5/8 OD, but that doesnt really matter so long as it holds the plates on. The ones I used were galvanised steel

This is a cool design. I want to do something similar but I want a thicker grip on it.
@MagnaMachineWorks2 жыл бұрын
You can build it the same way, but slip a piece of 1 inch pipe between the shaft stops. 1 inch pipe is 1 inch inside diameter. You will have a grip size larger than 1 inch more like 1-1/4 with schedule 40 pipe

Nice video. 2 years ago we dropped the front cross member down on our '52 Chevy and rebuilt stock. There is a joker on eBay that sells a kit but it is not center steer and we bought it and installed it and have some pretty scary bumpsteer. By using this center steer rack do you get any bumpsteer? It seems much closer to stock geometry.
@MagnaMachineWorks2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have zero bump steer doing it this way and it drives like a modern car. Even with bias ply tires it holds the road straight, not all over the road like the the factory gear box was. I looked at one of the eBay kits, and decided to go this way. The only thing I don’t go over in this video series is that the passenger side tie rod needed a jog bent in it to clear the end of the rack
