When I started metal bashing many (many) years ago, this was the method I was taught for all manner of metal forming, with the exception that I had no air to use. It was all done with a hand a hammer and chisel or whatever forming tool one could make by hand. We were allowed to make forming bucks if needed. My instructor would not let anyone use any kind of machine or power tool until we could do the operation to perfection without them. ONLY then were we instructed on the use of the air and machine tools for the sake of speed. His philosophy was : "If you lose everything but some hand tools you will still be able to do the job, slower but still doable".

Wry cool! I also learned with a hammer, dolley and chisel. For me it was the same, once I was competent, I was allowed to use this method. I really only do this for very thick steel, 1/8 etc

@@MagnaMachineWorks When I first got to use air it was awesome, then I got to use the machine tools and I thought, "Man, this way easy!" It's kinda like using photoshop. If you already know how to draw well before you use Photoshop, everything comes much easier because you already deeply understand the process'.

Ring the bell good advice, KZbin have messed with the bell so subscribers sometimes are no longer alerted to new uploads as was my case with your video. Great video by the way, I’ll have to catch up with your others. Cheers Trev 👍

wow impressive video, thought it may have pierced the sheet metal. did some floor pans in an 82 mustang but didnt bead roll any of them, used some 16g, debating on trying to do something like this.

Thank you! All you can do is try. If you pierce through, you could always weld it back up.
