I'm with Pastor, my all time #1 favorite movie is It's A wonderful Life! Also love White Christmas & Holiday Inn, great classics we watch every year, among some others we enjoy. Bringing my parents & my sister & her hubby to our Christmas eve service & we're really looking forward to it. Last year we went to my parents' church on Christmas eve. Merry Christmas, Pastor, Kari & kids!💚🎄❤️

Great podcast! I have noticed in families, as you've said before, kids & family life are so busy that some moms do it all in the house because it's 'easier' to just do it & get it done. Also, I see that mentality in parents of wanting an easier life for their kids. I've heard people say, 'my kids will have to work all their adult lives, I'm not making them work in the house or yard while they're growing up'. Which defeats the purpose of teaching responsibility & a healthy work ethic. I'm a grandparent & at my age I've seen this shift in parental thinking change through the years, and I always think how sad it is that kids are being cheated out of learning work/chore responsibility & ethic & I wonder how they will handle work as an adult.

I love when married people tell single people to embrass their singleness. My experience after a life of singleness is that married people exclude them from their lives, espcially their "couple" lives. Thomas and Kari, you're out of touch.

It's so great that you've addressed singleness! I've always heard negative comments about those who are single & it's a shame singleness is thought about as a negative. Just let God work in your life, single person, & be whatever it is God wants you to be just where He wants you. Walking with God, being happy in that walk & allowing Him to guide our lives is the #1 priority.

I use to be very defensive regarding criticism. Kari, when you said no one wants to be around THAT person who thinks they are ALWAYS right. That WAS me! I took it way too much to heart . Through the years I finally came to realize good, bad or indifferent ... just to consider it ALL to be constructive. So thankful to God for truly helping me with that. The advice you guys give is so true. I look forward to this podcast every week.... 1) Because I love you guys so much and 2) The advice and personal examples you give are always so helpful in my life. Keep the episodes coming. Miss you guys so much! So thankful for social media for that!

At 56yo, what I believe we did right as parents was allowing our kids to have enough rope to develop their own since of self. To make mistakes and learn from them. And while they were still in jr high/HS we still had ahold of that rope, so we could pull them back if they were close to the edge. It's too late once they enter college because you don't have the other end of that rope, the world does and if they haven't been tested they won't know when to let that rope go. What I did wrong was allow ego to control who I listened to in church. There are plenty of people who would love for you to do it their way, and most times it has to do with preferences. Once I learned who the manipulators were and listened to more of the teaching of Christ, the more settled I became. But in doing so I became less accepted and was sometimes seen as an agitator. Mr. Roger's said look for those who are helping, it's good advice and that is what I strive to do.

I'm with you, Kari, on the time change, I love light & sunshine & I don't function well with dark mornings & early dark evenings. I complain about it, too! 🤪 And dreary days get me down. Advice I would give young couples with children would be to have patience & spend quality time as a family, having talks, listening to each other, & having lots of fun together, too! ❤

Lois is cute! Love the memories lol. My son's funny memory was when he was 5 he was on recess and his teacher kindly had him come over and she said what is that on the velcro of your coat. She grabbed them and said go put this in your backpack. (It was my panties) lol I was so embarrassed when his teacher told me, glad we can laugh about this to this day.

On a more serious note, I find my perfect time with God at the current time is right after the kids get on the bus for school! I have a few hours like right now to be still and learn from God. I am getting back into exercising so that has been added to my morning routine now. My husband and I are going through a physical and spiritual detox at the moment to get us back on track and great rid of hurtful toxins in our bodies and in our minds & hearts. It has been eye opening to many things in our life that are negative whether what we watch or listen to. We have had to cut out movies and friendships recently to restore our spiritual peace with God. Our eating habits were not horrible, but they weren’t all that good either! So, the detoxing of our gut, body, and on a cellular level has been beneficial. I do the same thing, Kari. I always think like I have to say something so that the person knows I am listening. 😅 this spiritual detox has shown me this about myself. I don’t always have to say anything. If it is meant for me to say it, then God will let me know the right time. Thank you for sharing that, Kari. What a great episode, today! I needed to hear this. God knows exactly what we need! ❤

Thank you for another enriching and common sense podcast!! We love overnight oats for a healthy and nutritious breakfast. We also try to decrease sugar intake because it affects immune system response especially during flu season. We make sure to eat plenty of fermented foods like sauerkraut, kombucha and kimchi as it builds up healthy gut bacteria which benefits our body and brain. Well done you two!!

Hi Thomas and Kari, I’ve been following your podcast and truly appreciate the wisdom and practical advice you share on marriage, life, and ministry. I believe there are a few strategies that could help you reach even more listeners and strengthen your community: Segmented Episodes: Break your episodes into segments, such as “Marriage Tips of the Week” or “Listener Q&A.” This structure can make your content more digestible and highlight key takeaways. Themed Series: Consider creating themed series, like “Marriage Challenges” or “Ministry in Modern Times,” to dive deeper into specific topics. This can attract listeners interested in those particular areas. Engage with Your Audience: Encourage more listener interaction by featuring their stories or questions on your show. This can create a sense of community and make your content more relatable. Implementing these ideas can enhance the impact of your podcast and foster a more engaged audience. I’d love to discuss how we can collaborate to bring these concepts to life.

I love that you mentioned the fruits of the Spirit! As Christians, as much as possible, we should be exemplifying the fruits of the Spirit in all that we say & do.
