I’m new to the idea you don’t need a canner to can and it’s apple season and I went all in haha. Thanks for this video, it’s very easy to understand! And I love the little helpers at the end! Do you think you could write down the directions in the description? Thanks!

Thank you for the teaching! I have read that too much apple seeds will hurt chickens. The seeds contain cyanide. Just thought I’d share that info. Thanks again!!

Greetings from western Canada. I must say, your "middle of winter" looks a bit different from mine. :) Great vid. Loved the vibe. Keep it up!

You can buy an apple peeler and take the ring slicer off the end and it will peel the apple with core in it. Then you can buy a corer-slicer and it will core an apple and make thick slices. It takes about 20 seconds to peel and core, plus slice the apple. It makes it very easy and quick way to process apples to can. Then you can use peels and core to make jam, or apple cider vinegar.

1st time canning apples at age 66.! I used to wish I had paid attention to my grandmothers (both of them) during all the canning they did while I was growing up but your video just made me so confident to do it. (My 1st garden pickles turned out great so I've been collecting apples from abandon trees at my neighbors...seemed so wasteful to see them just go to waste). I'll let you know how it goes.😉 Great video & great job at explaining it all! Love from VA. ❤ Subbed to your channel!😉

Usually the apples will sink down in time. As long as they sealed they will be fine.

Nice video, but I've learned that there is more work to canning than I thought. I will stick to apple sauce. My wife has nice things from her grandmother as well that she uses and cherishes.

Thanks, Meghan for another outstanding video. So much really helpful information. The music was a little distracting for me. Might have been better at about half the volume so it wouldn’t compete with your voice. We’re really looking forward to and enjoying these Thursday videos. Thanks for sharing and keep’em coming! 😊

I love all of your videos. It pleases me greatly to see the things you are doing with your life!!! I think it is important to know how to can and also put up your own food. It does often cost little more, but not always. And....it is SOOOO much better tasting and better for you and your family. Tomorrows task for me is to make awesome beef stock and you can freeze it for a long time. Another example that I love is making my own marinara sauce. It is much more expensive than what you can buy but so much better. I make several gallons at once and freeze it. Keep up the good work and awesome videos.. Im glad to see that you used sea salt. I tell people that if they have any of the iodize salt that comes in blue boxes, that it does a great job of melting ice but dont cook with it! I have very fond memories of canning with my mom and grandma at this time of year when I was a young pup. We did hundreds of jars of everything from green beans, beets, tomatoes, peaches, pears, apples, pickles and dill green tomato's (my absolute favorite) beef and more. It was usually about 1.5-2 weeks of constant canning.

Excellent video, Meghan! Thanks for sharing. 😊 I am completely new to Fremont beans; you’ll have to let us know how they taste. Your old canner is very much like a canner we used for many years. It was passed down to the kids but I believe they usually opt for something more current. 🙁. Wishing y’all all the best! Oh by the way, I’d just like to say how much I enjoy your little ones in the background. Brings back memories of days gone bye.
