Well I've been having the same problem. I switched to the screaming eagle manual chain adjuster. Ever since I've been going back and forth trying to get the noise to go away. Haven't put m many miles since I did the tensioner. I wonder if it not will go away after some time.

Are you a bike mechanic? Then mechanic the best you can. I get it though. The guy picked your brain and got all that time and knowledge for free, then didn't pay you back with the purchase... but that's just the game we have to play these days. 🫤

Do a brake fluid change also
@outlaw7x77 Жыл бұрын
yes, i did that too, thanks. Had to go buy some new Dot 4 fluid. The cap on the front started leaking afterwards...took it off again and cleaned it up all around the gasket surface on the cap...it had quite a bit of corrosion build up...don't they all? I used a small fine file to clean it up smooth...sucked all the old fluid out and replaced with all new. seems to seal up good now. I try to do this every other year minimum.

I would of used ebc HH brake pads much better they are the best for your bike
@outlaw7x77 Жыл бұрын
I know...up until now, I've used OEM Harley Davidson and EBC pads. But with this many miles on it now...(189,000)...I decided to go with the budget rotors and pads. If they don't work out, I can at least replace 'em.

Actually, over the last few years, I have not been riding the Harley much at all. I rode it to Sturgis two years ago, but that is about it. I've mostly been on the XR650R...it hauls on the back of my Van. I always wanted to ride it on the beach...that was a mistake...lol...salt/corrosion...my new spokes don't look new anymore...lol.... I bought a new Sprinter Van though, and so outfitting it has taken most of my time so maybe that is why I haven't been riding the Harley much. I really want to start again this summer so that's why all the work this winter. I had a great time down in Yellowstone on my trip to Sturgis...So, this winter, while prepping this bike, one thing leads to another, and another. If I'm going to ride it, I need to maintain it too. Up till now, it's been just gas, oil, filters, brakes, tires, and a drive belt. Age is kicking in. You still live in Chula Vista? Two years ago, I was down watching the Baja 1000 just as a spectator. I ran into Scott and his team in San Felipe. He said you got hurt pretty bad. How you doing?

I came to your latest video, I watched, much better results, much more pleasing! I wouldn't have even had to say anything about it if I had not put up a rant earlier. I just have one jeff beck album. I have not "spun" an album in about 7-10 years.

How ya doin'? Good video! I gotta ask you, and you're the first one I've mentioned this to. Why would any one in their right mind film a video in portrait mode when the intention is to post it? I mean come on! It's just a bad thing in my overly critical mind. I can see you using the footage if it was a "one-off" situation. But in forethought, seems you would have set up and filmed in landscape mode. Today's viewers all have wide screen phone, tv's and computers. Why not fill the screen instead of 50% black? And there's things you can do in post production. Like you can get creative and slip two portrait filmed images side by side or use a program that fills in the bars with a blurry image on the sides. Not the best, the best is to film it for the intended showing. I like this video! It is no nonsense. I'll be looking to watch more and hoping to see some more of your good tips and tricks. Thanks! 2many

Lol...yes I agree. I'm pretty tech challenged. I made a new video today and was just about to post it when I read your comment...I then deleted it and redid it Landscape mode instead of Portrait mode. This is a new Samsung S-10...it works great in Landscape, but I could not get my old S-7 to do that. Anyway, thanks for the very much needed prodding to do better...check out my new one.

I've got about 11,000 miles on the bed now and I'm really happy with it. No rattling, or noise and it's solid as a rock. One tip: I built a cabinet to store clothes in beside the mattress...I'd now build it with a little more room than what simply fits. Making the bed is a bit difficult because its hard to tuck in the sheets and blankets. I measured and simply used those measurements....just leave yourself a bit (maybe an extra inch) of room. thankyou for your comment.

3/4" plywood is good for 2ft of span. But that is to hold a lot of weight for flooring. So maybe before nailing or screwing it down, just test it out. I need to do another video on how it turned out. I'm very happy with it and we've been 11,000 miles touring with it...no rattles or anything...very solid.

Thanks 👍 Tip: when gluing down the boards with adhesive, be sure the vans floor is flat...I put as much weights on the boards as I could...in my sloped driveway...over night they did slip down a bit following the path of gravity...The adhesive is very thick...just be sure it's level. My driveway is only sloping maybe 1 degree...no big deal but just beware.

Where did You get your seat? Looks way better than stock!
@outlaw7x772 жыл бұрын
That was my old seat that came with the bike...it was a XR'S ONLY Cover. Last winter though I got new plastics and replaced the cover just for looks. It was a bit_och finding a seat cover for this. I am unsure of my alternatives so I rely on what the catolog says will work. I finally got a plain black one from Rocky Mountain ATV. I did a complete teardown so new grips etc to bring it back from looking like complete crap.
