I bought the Suzuki Burgman 400 last March 2024. I love it. I have one issue. When you park the bike and tie the front wheel to lock it, you have to be careful not to turn the key too far and go past “Lock” and accidentally turn on the parking light. I did that when I first got the bike and it drained the battery. Had to have it picked up and changed the battery. Future designs should address that problem and maybe put the parking light in another location. Now, after parking and locking the wheel, I always check the front of the bike to be sure the headlights are off.

Are there any special tools needed to do this job? What screwdriver fits the clamp that holds down the rubber intake boot? Have to loosen to turn the carb

You will just need basic tools. A phillips head screw driver and some wrenches will get the job done

Dude, even after 9 years this video is still helpful. After I, like a dumb ass, ran my KRL out of gas, it wouldn't idle anymore. Obviously debris in the idle circuit, i didn't really want to spend the time on it but i watched your video and went out to the garage. I was done, side panels, gas tank, and seat ,in less than an hour and half. once again it runs like a charm. Thanks for you efforts!

The speedo conversation is fairly simple. I picked up a speedo on eBay and it came with a wiring diagram. Was easy to match it up with the bike's wiring diagram.

I purchased my 2007 Burgman brand new in the Autumn of '06, and I still ride it today. Since then, I've put on nearly 30,000 miles. It still rides like new. I've babied it in an air conditioned garage most of its life, and never beat on it on the road. Riding it gently, I get close to 70 miles per gallon. The only issue I've ever had is the carbon fiber spacer between the engine exhaust and the tail pipe. After two years, it disintigrated from the heat. All that caused was more exhaust noise from the middle of the pipes, and it wasn't a pleasant sound. I replaced it twice. Both times it disitigrated. Finally, I fashioned one from a rolled up strip of stainless steel. I installed that one in 2011. It's still working flawlessly today, keeping the original sound out the end of the tail pipe. In 2017, I replaced the drive belt. Not because it failed, but I just figured it might some day. I'm a few years from 70, and always thought I'd give up cycling at that age. But with this scooter being so easy to maintain and ride, I wonder if I will.

@2:37 You don't NEED to remove that bolt, but in hindsight it would have been helpful(speaking from experience) I have one slight problem, though; I have decided to follow the factory spec of .006 int and .008 ex. The problem arises within play in the rockers(atleast in cyl #4). About a thousandth of play in the rocker on intake side and about a ten thousandth of play. To put this these words into something you can imagine: I set lash to .006 on intake side, allowing for a little bit of grab on the feeler and just enough room so slip the feeler in sideways with a little bit of pressure on the handle. When I use a .007 feeler to double check, it will also slide in, pushing the rocker up just a tad in the process. A .008 will not fit into the intake side when set to .006. Then when I set exhuast to .008, a .009 will fit in after pushing the rocker up just a tad; more effort is required to fit it in though. A .010 will not fit into exhuast while at .008. Is there supposed to be a little bit of play in the rockers(atleast on cyl 4)? I am certain I am using the feelers right(maybe not though?) And the bike has only 6250 original miles(1991, lightly driven until 2001 when it was parked until about 6 months ago- when I got my hands on it). It never had its first tune-up. I forgot to mention that the play in the rockers is an upwards movement that requires a little bit of force to make happen; not alot, sliding a .001 sized larger feeler gauge into the gap will make it happen. The cams all show 0 signs of wear, the original oil hasn't a single flake of metal in it; there isn't a single thing that is wrong with the engine internals that I am aware of after checking the oil, checking the cylinder hashing in all cylinders with a bore-o-scope and putting about 3 miles on the bike to work out an overheating problem and run some seafoam through the carbs after I rebuilt them. Any help would be appreciated
