The situation with waiting on sales to come in is like a farmer waiting on the crop to be harvested and sold. For a while you’ll be looking for all the spare change in the truck but Christmas time it’ll catch up. 🎉

You got that right!

Tricky business being firewood only. Have to manage cash flow very carefully since you've got capital tied up in split firewood, log inventory waiting to be split, a second processor and a lot of concrete this year. It's less tricky for me since the wood is a by product of my logging and clearing operation. Firewood money is bonus revenue. But you can't sell firewood if you don't have wood. Gotta do what ya gotta do. 👍

Sounds like you are in a very lucky position. Once the barn is full I will be doing more work on site with the digger to pay bills etc. lots of timber on the horizon so need to put some £££ aside

Yard is filling up and you’re on your well on your way to getting the 1K firewood bags at the 2nd depot! I Enjoy tagging along and seeing what you’re up to over there Archie! Love your content! 53/40 Uniforest large firewood processor. I don't think we get that brand here in America. Please do a comparison on that style splitter that does one round at a time compared to the splitter you have where the rounds roll into it. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each of the two methods?

From a completely uneducated view point seen a waste to chip for horse bedding. Great content keep it coming
@woodnewf384712 күн бұрын
How so? Maximizing utilization of the tree. Different parts of a tree are better suited for applications other than a sawlog. One tree can give you sawlogs, firewood logs and biomass chips for mulch or energy production. Or horse bedding.
@oakfarmfirewood12 күн бұрын
Yes that’s correct 👍🏼 can’t all be used for milling
@iitzsiickkj745112 күн бұрын
Hey just a bit of advice when ur stacking never straighten the timber by hitting it, it can wear out the grab and also when stacking keep the butt facing towards you and try use the extension on the crane as mush as possible.

out of interest, whats the process after the harvesting is done do they put a big mulcher through the site to get rid of the old stumps & clear all the stuff left on the floor?
@oakfarmfirewood12 күн бұрын
Yes most of the time but also can just plant between stumps and by the time they come to harvest the new crop they stumps are normally rotten enough etc
