Hi Neil, Yes the Saturday was a superb day and your run looked superb. I have one of Keith Wilsons started Bulldogs in our collection and an amassed collection of castings that may one day resemble a Duke of Cornwall. Camelot may also steam. We had 2 runs round in the evening. Love the authentic single plate on the frames. 2 on the left. I misspent my youth in Keith's workshop. We showed our part built Nigel Gresley 01. David and Lily. Reading.

I didn't know a 5 inch gauge City of Truro existed. I'm a female steam engine fanatic, who loves God's Wonderful Railway. Thankyou for showing off my beloved steamy daughter, I could cuddle and kiss you for it. She's music to my ears and beautiful with it.

Amazing! Is the lever nearest to the camera to adjust the cam timing?
@neilbottle666211 ай бұрын
It adjusts when the ignition fires as it works off a Hall effect sensor but is a wasted spark setup. That in effect allows it to rev at high rpm or low and lumpy depending if you advance or retard it.

Hi, should I open the blower or close it while it is running ? The manual said close it , but I don't understand why . Thanks
@neilbottle6662 Жыл бұрын
The blower is used when the locomotive is at a standstill as it draws the fire. When the locomotive is running it isn’t required as the exhaust gases passing up through the chimney is enough to draw the fire.

Hi, I am sorry to bother you again, I have two more questions about the train operation , 1. As the train starts to run , should I leave the water bypass valve open or closed ? 2. How to empty the water left in the boiler after finishing each running ? Thank you Best regards @@neilbottle6662
@neilbottle6662 Жыл бұрын
@zhengyangwang9713 That's ok, we all have to start somewhere so I don't mind the questions. The water bypass generally depends on the amount of water in the sight gauge glass. If it's full up to the top nut open the bypass, if it's 1/2 or 3/4 you can leave it closed for a few laps so it feeds water in but you have to try and balance the water and steam pressure because when cold water goes in it lowers the pressure. I find when running for an hour I will only open the bypass a few times for a couple of laps or when it starts priming which is when water starts getting ejected out the chimney. When you've finished steaming, at the bottom of the sight gauge glass there is a copper pipe and a handle, all you have to do is turn the handle and it will eject the water and steam from the boiler, to avoid it going in the cab I usually put a small piece of silicone tubing (like that used for nitro engines) on the pipe and then open it so it drains away from the engine but be careful as it's hot and could scorch you easily.

What a lovely locomotive, bit of wheel slippage noted on the wet rails but handled it beautifully, a credit to you..

There is 1 video of it running on track in my profile. I hope to do some more when the track at Ruddington is open again as I have several more big wagons to test. It’s lovely to steam and can run for an hour, just have to top the water up in the tender.

How strong are these little engines
@neilbottle66624 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of variables, this one can pull around 3-4 people as it’s fairly small but our City of Truro in the same scale can pull 10+ quite easily with the ride on trucks, it can still pull more.

The engine was purchased from The Steam Workshop as they had purchased it from an estate, although there wasn’t much history with it. It will be getting torn down and repainted soon to add some finer detailing to it.
