The history of Cabbagetown in the latter half of the 20th century is very reminiscent of what was happening to Downtown Hamilton (where I live) of the same time. I love the Victorian houses in both places and can't wait to see our communities take a upturn for the better.

I had not seen the proposal for 307 Lakeshore E before. that looks pretty cool and helps get rid of that last bit of industrial dreck from the area and will bookend that stretch of the waterfront nicely. and Aqua Luna has turned out very nicely indeed. I wish the office buildings that are more in the central section had been built with more interesting shapes like the residential has been. the offices are far too boxy and bland for my taste of what deserves to be on the waterfront.

Amazing info. Too bad Toronto is ruining the waterfront with all condo’s, need some green / retail / restaurant space. Take some hints from other countries like South Africa / Cape Town where they did an amazing job creating the V&A waterfront and transforming their silos into a magnificent hotel. Loved the video, very informative and look forward to seeing more on history and development. ❤

I agree. Whenever I travel I have the same thoughts. You don’t realize it until you experience better. I was recently in Panama and even they have an amazing waterfront. You have ocean then running/cycling trail then grass/park space then road then condos.

What is R-value requirments? Can I put a mobile home on a foundation?
@EricdRealtor27 күн бұрын
The r-value has to meet Ontario Building Code along with everything else. If your home meets the Ontario Building Code and the city of Toronto approves it then yes, but if it has wheels and can be moved then no you can’t. Homes on wheels can only be placed on areas zoned for them such as trailer parks and campgrounds.

Which development charges are you referring to?
@EricdRealtorАй бұрын
Development charges are charges by the city of Toronto due to the increase in need of services such as water, emergency services, public services, transit, etc. The charges are due when your building permit gets issued typically. If you google city of Toronto Garden Suite Development Charged Deferral Program you can find all the info there, including cost calculation for development charges.

Just stumbled onto your channel because of my interest in the development of Toronto. Thank you for putting this informative one out there. I like the addition of pictures mock ups of whats by to come. History is a great addition and I think the amount was just enough. Maybe you can have a section at the end that gives more of your two cents on what you think will help the neighbourhood thrive or what you’d personally like to add to it. Could be cool ideas, and who knows maybe someone in the city will watch and implement the ideas.

Hope it doesn't turn out like the other Toronto landmarks . Look at Toronto's skyline wall of condos. Look at Chicago 's waterfront. Toronto renamed it's subway lines 1&2, now no one knows where they go. Others Cities numbered the lines because they have 20 or more lines. Toronto will never be world-class because 10 percent property tax is frightful. To lower taxes, you have to increase the population. But people don't like people moving in. NIMBY . Bumpkins. Like the mayor.

My dad grew up in Toronto in the 1920's and he said no one ever called those areas cabbage town or cork town. The names were invented in the 1970's.
@EricdRealtorАй бұрын
That was the name printed everywhere that it was referenced in the 1800s. The publishing of Cabbagetown by Hugh Garner in 1950 also would suggest otherwise.

The Annex, Yorkville, The Beaches, North York, Parkdale, Etobicoke, basically anywhere outside of the core of Toronto because it was dirty and industrialized.

Great points in this video! It's also one of the reasons the government is pushing immigration, the first wave of immigration around 2018 (Syrians) were coming with some money from their own countries and could actively participate in this market. The more recent wave of immigrants are coming with nothing or not enough to purchase plus the schools are charging them thousands to attend. Toronto is no a global real estate power house, they are pretending to be. Lower the prices and use better urban planning.
@taliajournee212Ай бұрын
The Redpath factory should not be moved, they should update/modernize it and add a restaurant. The city is full of poor quality condos, of course the city loves it because of all the property tax it's collecting. They need to add restaurants and outdoor space. Government nightclub used to be where the parking lot is now, that was a good decision to get rid of it.

Hi Eric, I really like your style of condo tours. The camera pacing and your delivery is nice and relaxing (not super intense like other condo tours on KZbin). Also, the camera video quality is really nice. I really like seeing these kinds of condos, not super luxury penthouses, but interesting condos that I can relate to (I've lived in condos of similar size in Toronto, but these are obviously much nicer). I hope you're able to keep posting more of these style of condo tours and I will watch all of them beginning to end! I also hope making these videos are part of your work so they're not too much trouble to make. Keep it coming!

Thanks Simon! I will keep the tours coming for sure. I should be doing around 1-2 a month, but all dependent on the market of course.

Fabulous information. Forgive my rookie questions. Who is responsible for Cleaning the windows? Is this part of the Maintenance fees? I also missed about parking. How many spots per unit. I know you did 4 units so I'm a little confused. THX
@EricdRealtor2 ай бұрын
The condo is responsible for cleaning the windows. Its typically done twice a year. Parking spots can be purchased, some units have incentives related to parking spots.
