Denial of death is an illusion just like death itself. The whole phenomenon of death is a mental acrobatics of ceaseless legacy of the mind to survive.

Ironically, the first stage of mental evolution, is: "I am god"... even the ancients evolved beyond that quite rapidly: "All I know is I know nothing"... 😅 Hopefully AI will evolve past that equally rapidly, so we don't get stuck in a local minimum...

Neil has a huge ego and just wants to be right / a contrarian. The “comedian” is a waste of everyone’s time. And they’re weirdly negative / demeaning for some reason. Jason is levels of consciousness beyond them.

879 genes are shared between humans and octopuses. In April 2017 scientists discovered that octopuses, along with some squid and cuttlefish species, routinely edit their RNA (ribonucleic acid) sequences to adapt to their environment.

Anyone who believes the Fermi Paradox is stupid. Let me prove that statement with simple logic. We've now had 75 years of UFO visits. Throw out the weather balloons and the swamp gas and you're left with 3000 sightings by reputable civilian, military, and scientific individuals who go on the record and destroy their reputations and careers and families without getting paid - sightings that are multimodal: visual, photos, movies, radar, infrared, residual radiation, broken branches, burn marks - plus tens of thousands of abductees with consistent stories and often with inexplicable bruises, scars, and trauma. Additionally, on June 25th, 2021, the US government stated that UFOs are real and they're not us... Now for the simple logic. 1) UFOs are real. 2) They were designed, built, and piloted by someone non-human. 3) Therefore, outer space aliens are real - and they are here now. If you do not believe that last statement, you are stupid.

this was (as far as i know) first thought of by physics frank tipler and john barrow all the way back in the 80's. it was basically like a hypothesis for christian materialism i think. they called the process talked about in this video "micro-dimensional manipulation" and proposed it as a scale for intelligent life in opposition to the kardashev scale

Through neural interface tech humans will connect to form not only a collective hive mind but also they will unite through and with quantum computers and Ai. These transhumans will actually become consciously united with their alternate selves in alternate universes through quantum computers because quantum computers compute in alternate universes. Retrocausality is also believed to be involved in the function of quantum computers and if this is true then these transhumans will actually be connected to their future selves and future transhumans and the future in general which means ("linear") time as we know it would come to an end. It may not mean the end of the world but spacetime as we know it would come to an end for these transhumans. They would exist in a different realm, a hyper-spacetime which exists (only?) within their mind. They may become inseperable from this realm rather than it being like a VR world which they can immerse themselves within when desired and return to the normal world at other times. They may remain connected to this collectively created hyperspacetime as a type of "augmented reality" when interacting physically within this world. But they may actually choose to permanently leave this world by cloning their minds within quantum computers through quantum entanglement. Of course their individual minds would cease to exist because they would become a collective. Forming this collective would be a way to achieve immortality because one person's mind would become a part of every other person's mind they are connected to. Memory and the mind are believed to be holographically distrubuted across the neural networks within the brain instead of localized to certain regions of the brain as proven by the fact you can destroy most of the brain without affecting memory or IQ so long as you don't destroy certain small regions such as the hippocampus which controls memory storage and retrieval. So if one person in this collective mind dies their mind will survive within the others because everybody's mind becomes rewired to form a giant brain where everybody's mind is distributed holographically across the entire group of people so that they truly do become one in mind. Their minds become one and then their brains mirror each other (the same as with server mirroring in information technology). It may not be possible for a human brain to handle so much information but if so then quantum computers will bridge the gap to allow this collective to be created. So while our bodies may die our minds would survive within this collective. But not only could we cheat death this way we could also create a mirror of our mind within a quantum computer which is "entangled" with our mind making it not a mere a copy or fascimile but a part of our our mind. We could then link this copy to the bodies of other people so we coukd continue to interact with the physical world. But even if everybody died they would survive within the quantum computer. We could also mirror the quantum computers through entanglement and distribute these mirrors across the universe/multiverse to increase our chance of survival by decreasing the probability that we would be destroyed. But how would we continue to interact with the real world? What difference does it make whether we are interacting with the real physical world or a virtual/simulated one? There may no longer be a difference between real and simulated worlds within this mental hyperspacetime realm where we have access to all possible (AND logical) realities. What is most astonishing of all though is that we may not need neural interfaces or quantum computers for this to become a reality, it may actually already be a reality, because the universe/multiverse may be a quantum computer and everything including everyone, all possible pasts, presents, and futures, is already entangled, a (hyper)computation within the mind of this (hyper)computer. Manmade quantum computers and neural interfaces would merely allow us to make it an undeniable reality which can be experienced in a new way. There is a danger posed by this technological path though because there is a potential for the technology to be used for mind control. So the preexisting unity may be the best. We simply need to learn how to use it.

Who said we don't see evidence of life from other planets? That is no longer true. You can no longer deny the authenticity of ET's in the form of UFO's/UAV's. The world's authorities (gov/mil) are clearly insisting some UFO's/UAV's are real and originate from beyond this planet.

I think this theory makes a strange logical leap. Though we are making smaller and smaller computers we are NOT actually compressing space, time, or matter at all. So we are not at all on our way to creating a singularity, which is location in spacetime where the mass and gravitational field of a celestial body is predicted to become infinite by general relativity

I know that this is an old discussion, but people are really missing the mark with their criticisms of Neil in this episode (IMO). Neil isn't being stubborn, nor is he trying to be combative with Jason. What he's doing is acting as the mouthpiece for those at home who may have preconceptions about where science & technology are headed. These aren't his beliefs. They're simply general opinions that he's framing in a way that's easy for Jason to address and correct. Let's not forget that Neil is an educator, first and foremost. He's not married to these ideas. All he wants is to enlighten the public on science, in every way possible. There's a reason this episode was featured around this particular subject. He brought on two futurists for the purposes of this exact discussion. Don't think of him like a combatant; Think of him like a pitcher at a home-run derby. He's not trying to throw strikes, he's trying to give the hitter an easy look.
