They certainly do suck if your nut and bridge saddles aren't cut properly. Not always the vibrato's fault. Most often not on q quality instrument. The problem is these low budget guitars that come out of not so great QC and to be fair, all players do not set a guitar up the same way and young guitarists buying guitars and never learning how to do the basic maintenance on a guitar, let alone one with a vibrato. Some are trash for sure.

That's cool! But there's no such thing as vintage correct bevels. If I lined up my vintage SGs, you'd notice that they're all shaped differently. Some even have uneven inlay placement and I doubt anyone would to replicate that 😂
@scottjua29 күн бұрын
@@tfejulienewmar oh for sure. I say as much in the video actually. They're all different and there was a range of hand work. There's some consistent attributes to the earliest examples though and I copied my own guitar as an example.

The distortion pedal is kinda harsh eh? Most guitarists that you think are distorted are not nearly as much as you think if you isolate the track. I am 56 and have been playing live in bands since I was 17 and I used to think the same way. What a shock that the vintage Pickups sound the best, I guess you spent that money well.

Can’t believe you used OD pedals instead of getting crunch from the amp. What’s the point of having a Powerstation ??
@scottjuaАй бұрын
@@zachariahwade8482 main reason is the sv20h is so loud. Also since I was running two amps at once and using room mics are well, I wanted them to balance out for clean, and use the dumble style Beekeeper for the OD. The power station allows for super precise volume matching where the sv20h is just loud, or loud and breaking up Mainly because the cleans helps hear the tonality of the pickups better.

I'm the one who discovered the front sight "not-a-marker cap" greeblie. Also, I've had that set screw in my radio knob model for years. I interpreted it as a set screw from the small Visual Dictionary photo, and incorporated it into my 3D model. I was never 100% positive it was there, so it's nice to finally know for certain that my initial deduction was correct. Nice job on your builds, Scott.

ADHD much? Just kidding-but the lack of taper on that horn doesn’t bother me a bit! But then, I’ve never owned an SG Custom, although I’ve always wanted one. My first SG was a ‘67 Standard that I bought new, and I can’t remember what sort of taper that had on the horn. I wouldn’t have one with the sideways Vibrola anyway. I’m thinking of getting one of the new Epiphone ‘63 SG Customs with thr Lyre Vibrola, as I can’t afford the $8K that Gibson wants for their reissue Custom with the ebony-block Vibrola, and I see that’s what’s on your ‘61. Although I’ve always associated those with 1962 ones…I’ve also seen ‘62s with the sideways Vibrolas-I think Gibson was casting around back then trying to find something that would work.
@scottjua2 ай бұрын
Yeah. It's cork sniffing stuff. There's a decent set of SG folks who really care how Gibson is doing the details. It doesn't have any bearing on it's quality as a playable instrument, because it's a fantastic guitar on all levels. As a recreation or reissue of an iconic design, it misses some important details. The Les Paul single cut shape gets a silly amount of detailed analysis and effort put into recreating the tiny details... But why not this body style? Either way... Yeah the new Epiphone is fantastic for the price. You get all the same hardware. Speaking of price, the Gibson at retail is ridiculous money.... But used or demo shop is doable.

While a really nice saber I feel what solos hold should do instead of the emitter flanges and all that they should do a solid emitter with a 7/8” hole. And I would like see more Luke V2 makes do more static like Dave P. Even Mark Hamil himself said it felt heavy to him the real prop
@scottjua3 ай бұрын
It's actually accurate the way it's made. I've held the real one in my hands at the time next to Starkiller and solos hold v1, which informed all the revisions for V2 (current). Some of the measurements I supplied didn't translate to production which I mentioned. They're about the same weight actually. Mark Hamil had no frame of reference at the time. The real one is hollow inside as well.

I think I was lucky enough to get my hands on a legitimate one that either never had the 9 branded onto the handle OR the grips were replaced at some point. (The numbers are matched on the inside of the grip panels but I’m suspicious that the grips are not original). It is stamped 1920 but the serial number suggests that it is from the Prussian order of “red nines”. I’ve got a feeling that the grips were replaced when it went into German police inventory shortly after WW1. In addition to the 1920 stamp there are markings on it that suggest it became part of a military/police inventory.
@scottjua3 ай бұрын
They very well could be original to the gun. There are many documented red 9 with standard grips.
@johnnydoe78463 ай бұрын
@@scottjua yeah true. One of the things making me suspicious is the fact that all six digits are stamped into the back side of each grip panel and I think the norm was usually just the last three or four digits? Also the top and bottom of each grip panel has the customary horizontal lines but the middle section (where they would have put a 9) is smooth without any grooves. I suppose the Germans might have sanded off the “9” then stamped on the 1920 and said good enough lol 😏
