Refinishing and Re-beveling a Gibson SG faded to mimic vintage 1961 Les Paul/SG PART 2

In part 2, I get redundant with the details, and subject you to playing.
Jokes aside, I try to cover the details and goals for the work, and the process, as well as play a little for fun.
It's a great sounding and playing guitar.
A couple of details I forgot to mention in the videos... The new pick guard is by Dan at Mojoaxe. With Vintage correct bevels, and between pickup gaps and screw placements.
I also had to address the factory nut cut. The slot for the G and one or two others were cut super high, and needed fixing.

Thanks man! Yeah really happy with how it came out. The previous epiphone refin in hot pink similarly came out awesome as well. Wish I could do more of them, and it didn’t take so long to do them. Hahaha

I think a lot of the stuff that they did in the differentials on the reissues is probably to get a little step further and a better direction for more reliability.❤

Hi Scott, cool video! Were you concerned about any of the acetone seeping between the neck and the body, dissolving the glue? That's one of my biggest concerns before I take acetone to an SG.

@@noi4848 No… I don’t just dump acetone on the guitar. I get it on the shop towels (paper towels) and wipe. So it’s not running. It starts to flash off dry so fast, it’s a non-issue. I go in small areas so I’m not trying to tackle it in one swipe. Controlling it means no real issues.

That's cool! But there's no such thing as vintage correct bevels. If I lined up my vintage SGs, you'd notice that they're all shaped differently. Some even have uneven inlay placement and I doubt anyone would to replicate that 😂

@@tfejulienewmar oh for sure. I say as much in the video actually. They're all different and there was a range of hand work. There's some consistent attributes to the earliest examples though and I copied my own guitar as an example.
