Yeah, I use the blue med Loctite on the 12 point set nut, as for grease, any high temp grease should be fine.

No 1200 miles. BMW M models require a 1200 mile break in service. After the 1200 mile service then it’s due at regular intervals.

my power supply is measuring 48VDC as spec'd. Can it still be an issue even if the output voltage is good? My unit is POE 8 camera lorex. Woke up today and dead. No lights etc. Took it apart and am trying to diagnose it. Two capacitors I see on the main board appear good. Fan not spinning and it was quite dirty. Any ideas on what to check?

If you’re only using one power supply, id recommend getting another power supply with same specs. Try to get it where you have one power supply for the every 3 cameras.

Turned out it was the power supply. Even though it measured 48v output I put a new on on it and the board light up! Output voltage being good does not indicate a good power supply!

@ nice. Just another thing I ran into was, during the night when the cameras are in night mode they use more power, that’s when my system would shut down.

@@coopercarguy - put it all back together this morning and powered it up. It’s all running fine. I wish I’d done a back up of the configuration for I lost all that. Only cost me 20 bucks to fix it. I was kind of excited about buying a new unit for $300 but I think I’ll just get a larger 8 GB drive instead of 2 GB.

Probably not that big of a deal, just keeps dust out of the splines on the input flange. If you forgot to install it, I’d probably pull the blue ring off, cut the seal in one spot so you’re able to install it, that would be better than not having it.

I just read online that the first few years of F8X had the carbon fiber drive shaft They switched to steel to make room for a new emissions filter in the exhaust system, that the earlier models didn’t have I would assume it’s practically impossible to make a 2 piece driveshaft from carbon fiber, hence the switch to steel

@mariomontanamuro4474 oh my bad, these diffs actually don’t have a drain plug. You can add fluid to the point where it starts to drain out of the fill plug. Really no reason the replace the fluid unless it high mileage.

@@coopercarguy hey cooper. The Nut which is holding the driveshaft has a rubber seal with the blue clip right? Some people are stuffing the rubber seal inside the "bigger" nut (from the diff) below it, inside it. You have just put the blue clip over the seal without stuffing it in :). Which is the right way ?

@@Serock2k6 correct, that seal isnt the seal for the input flange though. the nut goes first, then the gasket on the nut in the groove, then the blue cover/clip.

You don’t have to program the module but you have to tell battery management module (SME) it has the new modules. It’s not just a plug and play.

Those are premium tires some of the best you can buy overseas. Those are equivalent to the Michelin and goodyear's of the uk, specifically Finland.

Good to know, yeah here in the states starting to see a lot more different tire brands. A lot of people especially BMWs owner definitely have a stigma against tires other than Michelin, Conti or Pirelli.

I used to deliver those tires and only one guy didn’t have a problem with them. Everyone else would send them back for an adjustments over and over, so much so they stopped buying them. Maybe the one guy knew something the others didn’t when it came to putting them on the rim.

I would say the amount of older/high milage EVs will be more expensive to repair compared to an ICE vehicle. All batteries will degrade over time, not all engines will need to be replaced.

I would not tighten the input nut anymore than it supposed to be. If you tighten it more it will change your backlash/wear pattern and ruin the diff.

Cool, one thing I didn’t do in this video is mark the set nut/input flange. Make sure you do that, that nut is was sets the backlash on the diff

@@EGMuy yes correct. The flange and input spline needs to be marked with a scribe. You can try paint/marker but it gets wiped away when you do the job.

Yeah, honestly it had more buildup than I thought, could just be this car had excessive buildup. This engine doesn’t use EGR.

Hi, this is not a dumb question and to answer it, yeah your in cabin filter after ten years without replacing would be pretty dirty. I’ve seen some that start to get mold build up. I’d recommend replace the filter every two years.
