It's made of 3 parts the wrapper the binder and the filler What exactly is the binder?
@outsideworlds27 күн бұрын
As I understood it, the filler is the best tobacco in the center and where more of the flavour comes from, the binder holds it together and the wrapper is the pretty leaf that goes on the outside.

Would be cool to make the anamorphic rotation adjustment a manaul feature, not a one time thing, for artistic effects...

Hello! This is amazing! But I need an understanding of how you chose the gear ratio for all the rings, as I have a Sankor 16d and a Helios 44M, and some understanding of the focusing process itself would be useful. And it would be ideal to have 3D files instead of mesh. You are great! Thank you!😉

This is amazing! Would love to see a modification to the lens base so that this can be done with EF/PL so that it can be used on pretty much any camera! I'm assuming some internals would need to move up the lens to do so, but that would be amazing!

I wonder if it weren‘t easier to just get one of those autofocus adapters for vintage lenses that move the whole lens forward and back. Also great choice of beer there
@outsideworlds7 ай бұрын
Good idea, but moving the lens back and forth would only focus the taking lens, not the anamorphic adapter. I'm glad someone finally noticed the beer 😀

You could use heat threaded inserts instead of the nut and nut holders. Those would simplify the assembly process enormously. Just melt the threaded inserts in with a soldering iron and they stay there. Really like the project and video. 👍🏼

@outsideworlds Жыл бұрын
Which plastic device do you mean? All the plastic parts are 3D printed. You can find the files to print them yourself at www.thingiverse.com/thing:4832093

@@outsideworlds Hello. I meant the same devices that you have given the link to. Where can I buy these? And that I want to make it for the Canon EF mount. Do I still need the same nex adapter? Thank you
@outsideworlds Жыл бұрын
@@NikeKalisand all the parts are 3D printed, so if you don't have a 3D printer you would need to find a print service or a friend with a 3D printer. All the other parts (screws, ball bearings, steel balls) I think I ordered off of Amazon. I'm located in Germany, so my Amazon links probably won't help you much. It should be possible to adapt this design to EF mount. You will need to adjust some of the 3D part files, or find someone who's able to do so. I don't have a camera with an EF mount, so unfortunately I can't help you much there.
@NikeKalisand Жыл бұрын
By the way, I am also in Germany, near Hamburg. I don't understand what you mean by 3D printer. I mean, a 3D printer should produce those parts for me.

@@NikeKalisand Here's all the links This is the 3D printer I used: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07P64GQKV/ The ball berrings: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07CLLY912/ Steel balls: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08MNZNBS2/ M42 - NEX adapter: www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B01HGDFTUO/ Screws, nuts, etc. you can get at any big hardware store. Like I wrote, you'd need to make adjustments to the 3D model to use a different adapter, e.g. to EF. Hope that helps. Good luck!

My only issue with this demonstration is around the 2:30 mark. Once he cuts the filler and binder to length, he doesn't swap the tip and skirt ends, when recombining them with the main body. It's meant to be done this way to make the profile even, along the entire length.

Sometimes I think I know more than most regarding cameras and custom lens manufacture, and then this MF comes out of the depths to put me in my place lol incredible stuff, man! This deserves so many more views, but I think the target demographic for this kind of advanced content is unfortunately small. However I feel it is growing now that anamorphic is becoming more affordable and popular! I have a Isco Ultrastar coming in the mail, and I think I'm going to do something absurd like this with it, so thanks for the inspiration and education!

I like your work a lot, keep at it. I often wondered if there is a cheap way to convert vintage anamorphic lenses for todays needs.
@noth606 Жыл бұрын
mmwuh? How do you mean convert, and what kind if lenses do you mean? I mean, if you have an actual anamorphic lens there should be some lens adaptor or such to get it stuck to the front of the camera in a way that's aligned more or less enough whip the photons where they need to go... You'll have to desqueeze the image probably but there are tools for that. So, point being if you have a something anamorphic that attaches to something and does the thing you want, but you want it to attach to something else, it shouldn't be that hard 🙂 Worst case you can sub a proper adapter for an improper one that eyeball measure puts at "about right", a dremel with some bits, electrical tape and a case of beer, put them in a big shaker, drink the beer, shake it shake it - when you wake up you'll have an engineering marvel the likes of which mankind has yet to see. Alternatively, give me the scoop on the lens(es) you mean and I'll give it a shake and let you know 🙂

Really cool! I know it's probably a massive undertaking making a video to explain your design process, but even a less in-depth video where you touch on some of the high level concepts that went into the design would be invaluable. For example - a video about how you calculated the gear ratio (I'm not even sure if that's the correct term) to normalize the focus movements between the two lenses would be hugely helpful for anyone thinking of attempting a similar design.

in my time i played alot with ana, swapping different rear/front glasses, trying 4x anamorphic on a vertical sensor. And making mechanically sync one was my last project, to bad i dont have skills and a machinist guy is lost on the way. At a time there was a lot opinions in community that it will not work and here u prove them wrong. Wow, thats a solid proof of concept, wish i could adapt that for other combo ) im really amazed that linear mechanical syncronization is working

Beautifull. One question, This only work with The Kowa? Cause That I have a Sankor, Thanks
@outsideworlds Жыл бұрын
It should work with the Sankor, but you'll probably have to make some adjustments: you'd have to adjust the gear ring which attaches to the focus ring of the sankor, you'd have to change the clamp to fit it and you'd probably have to change the gear box. Basically you measure the angle of the focus throw of the anamorphic adapter from infinity to 1.5 meters, divide it by the focus throw of the helios and you have your target gear ratio. If you reply with those measurements, I'll adjust the model on thingyverse.

Love it! Question: would it be possible to make an EF version? Thanks.
@outsideworlds Жыл бұрын
For EF you would need some machined metal parts. For this design I'm using the m42->E-mount adapter as a base to which I attach everything else. Because the flange focal distance of m42 and EF is so close, the adapter is very thin and there's nothing to attach to.
