Established roses bounce back quickly! The rosarian's goal was to reduce the overall size of the plant.

I live in Zone 8a, is it too late to plant bokchoi from seeds in May?
@SunGroHorticulture4 ай бұрын
We recommend waiting until the fall when temperatures grow cooler. Most pak choi grow best in cool weather. Yours will bolt (flower) too quickly if you plant them outdoors now.

Do you need to fertilizer/feed them since they grow so quickly? If so how often?
@SunGroHorticulture2 жыл бұрын
They are fast-growing and require only a little fertilizer initially. I tend to add slow-release fertilizer to my pots at the beginning of the season. Then I replenish it as needed after it is used up. There are lots of great OMRI Listed products on the market.

I'm left wondering if it was worth the effort of doing this seeing as how there was no update with a harvest video. In theory seems a good idea but for me it was too thin. Probably had a few at the top and that was it. Even if it failed it would have been a worthwhile video, and if it was successful why not show it?
@SunGroHorticulture2 жыл бұрын
This post was placed in 2017. I did not make another video due to time constraints. It worked and looks much like other raised potato structures. The only change I would make is to reduce its height by a couple of feet shorter and make it a foot or two wider. I did have some unexpected deer problems. It was the first year that deer attacked my bed in this garden, and they like sweet potatoes. I may make another this summer. If I do, I will post the results.

That Hydrangea variety attracts zero bees, it's completely sterile. And oleander being toxic is nonsense, even tomato leaves are toxic, it is planted as hedges all over southern europe.. just don't eat it...doh
@SunGroHorticulture2 жыл бұрын
Hydrangeas with mostly bracted, sterile flowers do not feed bees, but all smooth hydrangeas are larval host plants for several important pollinators, including the hydrangea sphinx and the hydrangea leaf-tier moth. Choosing a lacecap smooth hydrangea will encourage lots of bees to visit. I recommend Invincibelle Lace™ Smooth hydrangea, which is also very high performing and has loads of pollen- and nectar-filled flowers. www.provenwinners.com/plants/hydrangea/invincibelle-lace-smooth-hydrangea-hydrangea-arborescens-subsp-radiata I am aware that Nerium oleander is a popular European shrub, but it is very toxic--especially to animals and small children. Human adult fatalities are rarer. I encourage you to read this article on the subject for clarification: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8619248/

I knew lettuce required light to germinate but the lettuce seed packs say to plant 1/4 inch deep . I found that the seed barely germinated 5 % . I used to sprinkle on top of soil and lightly rake and had high germination rates . Why do instructions say 1/4 inch deep ?
@SunGroHorticulture3 жыл бұрын
That is a very good question. Good seed companies will say that they need to be surface sown. Either way, sowing them along the surface and lightly raking them in is a good method. Take care!

I'm reading that Buddleia is considered an invasive now in the Seattle area.
@SunGroHorticulture3 жыл бұрын
It is invasive in some areas, but there are some sterile varieties that can be grown in all areas because they do not produce seed. 'Miss Molly' is one of many. www.provenwinners.com/plants/buddleia/miss-molly-butterfly-bush-buddleia-x

Honey Bees, Bumblebees, Blue Winged Wasps love our Mint and Oregano (Hagerstown, Maryland)- and these perennial plants seemingly need NO care - they'll take over your flower bed and yard. The mint tea and oregano herb are nice for humans too.
@SunGroHorticulture3 жыл бұрын
Bees love plants in the mint family! Both mint and oregano can easily be grown in pots to keep them from taking over. Salvias of all kinds and Agastaches are my favorite mints for bees.

Just tasted my Fantastico...tart, full flavored....8 hours sun, dr earth fert as well as Neptune fish emuls every week ( in pots). Worst flavored tomato i ever had....i don t understand it. Plants were very healthy.
@SunGroHorticulture3 жыл бұрын
I grew 'Fantastico' this year as well, and they are just ripening. It's an AAS winner that achieved the award after successful growing and excellent taste results nationwide. Give the fruits some more time on the vine to develop their sugars. You may have harvested it too early. Temperature also impacts flavor. The plants need warm nights and days to sugar up. One other point: I avoid using fish emulsion for the fertilization of certain edibles. I have super strong taste buds, and I swear that it impacts taste of fruits, despite what others might say.
@SunGroHorticulture6 ай бұрын
Whoa! We are not certain. More information is required. For us, the tomato has been super tasty and gets rave reviews elsewhere. Your fertilizer regime is more aggressive than ours, and we are cautious about our use of fish emulsion for certain edibles, especially close to harvest time. Try a less fragrant fertilizer, water regularly, and make sure your soil is high in organic matter and drains efficiently.
