THIS IS A SIGN FROM GOD!! I've been putting in so much work for the past few months being a mom and barely having time for myself and today I saw something about another small creator's content being stolen and it worried me so much and had me rethinking my choices. Thank you so much for this Katie❤ love you and your content!

Oh I feel this too 😅 the awkwardness of being a creator! So I have been saying that even though it’s taking a long time, so does running marathons and playing concert piano! I’m doing this for fulfillment. The monetary benefits will follow because it’s an evergreen platform. A type of art where I can share my thoughts and experiences.

Hi Katie! Great podcast, you made great points that really hit home. I don’t tell 99% of people I know about my channel and I use the excuse that they aren’t interested in my niche anyway. I definitely need to think about why I’m avoiding telling them.

I needed this this morning 🥹 My channel is starting to do pretty well (better than my original timeline/expectations!) but still not monetized. I'm so worried/embarrassed about my family discovering I'm a KZbinr, especially when I'm with my parents and they see how much time investment it is for no monetary return (because it's a long game, and this isn't all about the money for me anyways!) Thank you Katie, I can confirm that you've been inspo and encouragement for a baby KZbinr today 🙏✨️

Some of us that have faceless accounts aren't doing it because we are nervous. Many of us have corporate jobs that frown upon certain types of content creation. Or it may be considered a conflict of interest. For example if you work for a video game company, many of those companies frown upon their employees streaming other competing products. Some companies may have different socio political views that those of the content creator. So its not just a matter of being "nervous" to show our faces. Many of us are forced to do we dont lose our jobs. Its weird that "being nervous" is the sole assumption for why these kinds of accounts exist.

At the moment I have a faceless and voiceless channel. It's that way because I'm old, tragically unhip and have respiratory issues that make me sound like Darth Vader's older emphysema-ridden sister (if he has one and no, I don't have emphysema). If I ever feel secure enough let the world experience all that is current me, I'll begin speaking & showing my face. Until then, it's my hands, text & music while I make my art. 🙂

I've also been watching some Dan Koe videos of late, and your point about (small scale) content creators being a small business of one that has to take on the roles of every department is both bang on, and very much in line with his messaging. Your observations on gender are interesting, too. Broadly speaking, my own niche (music production / audio engineering) is male dominated, but I also watch a lot of "how to youtube" style videos, and they are largely made by women. I wonder if the same sort of income inequality that exists broadly between men and women is the same on KZbin, or whether it's somewhat more even due to there being many financially successful content creators who are women.

I love that people are building a business with a faceless account. It’s fantastic! A lot of them are not faceless in their stories but faceless in the feed. This is especially good for introverts.

I've noticed the same thing about faceless content. Some give good advice time to time. But I don't I've ever followed any of them because I don't feel like the content is genuine or personable.

I also don’t use X or threads. I love the concept of longer form ways of communicating vs short. Thank you for putting that into words so I can make more sense of why I don’t like short form!

Thank you, this is very helpful. Would you make some content about email marketing? Maybe something more in depth than email marketing videos use to be in KZbin, everyone says that it's very important but basically only say that.

I had my first brand deal negotiation recently and I quoted 3 different rates for what they would received, and they countered all of them for $50. I was like no thank you. It’s crazy they expected me to make a dedicated KZbin video which can take 8-20hours to do. They also wanted to keep negotiating further but I feel like I don’t want to work with a brand that lowballs that much off the bat, it’s completely unreasonable.

This has been a constant source of anxiety... sigh. I've had many blogs over the years and only recently I've realized I did this because I felt more comfortable behind being a brand, but also because deep down inside I felt a bit afraid to get all the attention myself. In hindsight, I think it would have been smarter for me to develop a personal brand that would have followed me over these changes, rather than trying to develop an independent audience for each project... and with a personal brand is easier to launch additional projects, rather than the other way around... Idk... I'd like to say I don't worry about this anymore but right now I'm trying to move my "art blog" audience into my personal account and I've committed to developing my own personal brand over the next six months and then reevaluate. We'll see how it goes! :)

Neither really aligns with me. I don't like the way 'content creator' waters down what specifically people do or make. I do not like my art to be described as 'pieces of content' and I'm not sure I'm exactly cut out for the constant 'add value' mantra everyone repeats. For example, if im not teaching, it's not valuable. I do like your videos, they are helpful, Just my 2 cents!

This isn’t true. Casey. Kold. Daniel dalen. John Harris. Life of riza. These are all content creators. Influencers are yappaholics people that uses their looks or “personality” (Jake Paul) to help create content and make brain rot stuff. Meanwhile content creators actually tell a story or share their journey through visual art 🖼️
