DLo. Ideal would be if DLo opts OUT. Then resigns on a longer term lower salary per year contract. I think this would make him a more attractive trade option, BUT it may help address the Lakers need. I think he understands his role now. In the Playoffs he will most likely NOT be a starter, but regular season he can ball out. Are the Lakers gonna get a better playmaking and scoring guard for his current contract, NO. Get him for a lower price, as his market it low. Shop for deals centered around Rui, Vincent, JHS, Wood and picks.
@icecoldac3Сағат бұрын
No… DLo does not understand his role. He believes he is an all star and starter via regular season and playoffs. Frankly Lakers Nation and the NBA world knows he isn’t. This is why he’s willing to opt out of his contract to get a better pay day. I don’t see DLo giving Lakers a discount on his contract knowing he may able to garnish more money somewhere else.
@MBeanoСағат бұрын
@@icecoldac3 There have been multiple interviews that show DLo knows his role. He has shown humility on this team. DLo has also stated, as well as there have been several reports reiterating that DLo would take less per year, for a longer contract. He has been pragmatic about his role, and his situation. He will see what's there, and it looks like there isn't much, and act accordingly, with the highest priority being a longer contract, versus more money per year.
@icecoldac3Сағат бұрын
@@MBeano If so be the case Lakers have nothing to worry about. He will opt out and restructure or he will opt in. Either way DLo will be a Laker at the beginning of 2025 Season start and that’s not a bad thing. I think Lakers should retain Gabe and Dinwiddie potent defenders that’s needed alongside DLo & AR. Everything boils down to staying healthy though.

A positive take... A LOT of people are losing their minds over the coaching situation, making it FAR more dramatic and over bloated than what is reality. Did they go after Hurley, and he rejected them, sure. But stop acting like Hurley's decision was about the Lakers. His decision was about he and his family really wanting to stay. It's that simple. He didnt pick another NBA team, he chose to chase something special to him in staying with UConn. NBA fans made it out to be some Telenovela, where the actual drama was between Woj and Shams. Now that the drama is over (well the "who gets the job" drama) lets discusss some positives 1) NONE of the available options had much HC experience, most had zero as HC in NBA. So the gap in experience is NOT as big as people are making it out to be. YES, JJ has zero professional experience as an NBA coach. But they all had little to no exp as a HC in NBA. Just look at Ham, he has AC exp and was the WORST HC. 2) MOST important is that the Lakers Front Office has stated that they are looking for a coach not just for the immediate needs, but the long term future. AND, they are looking to create a PROGRAM. This was revealed in the Hurley hiring process, and it has been reiterated since. So it appears to be the first time we have seen ANY long term vision and focus. It not only states a move away from chasing a 3rd star to a steady focus on building out their core and not only keeping continuity, but UNLIKE HAM, utilizing and executing this continuity. Just look at how he has progressed as a podcaster and traditional NBA analyst in a short period of time. Mind the Game is the most recent podcast, but he has been doing podcasts for years, and has progressed greatly in a short time period. 3) EVERYTHING we have SEEN from JJ has been a steadfast love of the game, a competitive dog-like mentality, an extremely high basketball IQ that appears to grow, and a grinding hard work ethic. 4) EVERYTHING we have HEARD from former coaches, staff, and team mates has been extremely positive. ALL the above have been reiterated and elaborated upon. Furthermore, many have mentioned that he became somewhat of a player-coach in his latter years. 5) JJ Separates himself in that he has charisma. He can be dog. He has attitude, and confidence. None of the others have that kind of "aura" or "presence". They are merely safer options at best. None of them are exciting in ANY way. Hurley was the only one, however, deep down, it seems he always knew he would stay. 6) You can tell when people WANT it. JJ wanted THIS job. Dan had to be convinced and that was obvious. Hurley, had a number in his head, BUT he never countered. ANYONE who has been in a hiring position can tell you, that is an enormous sign, this person doesn't really want it. Lakers were right to not overpay Hurley and make him the 5th highest paid coach in the league, for a coach who has not been in the league. Make no mistake, hiring JJ is a risk. But it is a good risk to take. The other options are only slightly less of a risk, with much less payoff

If the hire doesn't go well does Jeanie have the balls to fire rob?
@christianl10246 сағат бұрын
Who ever said she has to fire Rob, shes the boss, she can keep him for 20 more years if she wants to. BOTH Rob & JJ have a losing battle here. Rob has to pay LeBron & AD and they alone will cost over 100 million dollars. 70% of our money on 2 players. We are very limited and caped on getting good players. JJ cant be judge till we have 4 seasons with him. 2 with the LeBron James retirement years. 2 Rebuilding years.

They have proven that they aren't cheap. Over 100 million dollars will go to just 2 players. 70% of our salary on 2 players. How much can you do with 30% on your budget. I do believe properly managing payroll and player value is key to our success. Example: finding players like Austin Reaves & Max Christy that will provide great value because they can out perform their contract.

JJ Reddick is not the answer, Pat Riley was a champion with the Lakers with the 72 Lakers and was with the organization as an assistant under Westhead so he knew the organization, the players when he took over as head coach. The Lakers need a coach that was a winner as a player and knows the Laker organization. Rondo is the best selection.
