@@programmingwithdelphi Here are a few examples : 1. changing the columns width of the list, is not saved, so i need to change it every time i start Delphi 2. can't use the "Module" column even tho it is there... 3. unable to print the list directly from the list 4. the "Action Item" column is not multi-line and more... the To-Do List is very important but it looks like Embarcadero didn't touch it in many years.

I've made more tests under Linux and MacOS and made one adjustment to fix a bug for that platforms. So load the updated version I've just uploaded (still 01. Nov. 2023). // 01. Nov. 2023 - fix for Linux (In some situation Exception at first entry of onhint) // if Linebreaks are in the hint, that will be included for the height of the hint. // 02. Nov. 2023 - handle also the case, that the hint-window will have the right position if // the form has several controls with same hint-text (at different positions).

Even though it's a interesting alternative solution, notice however that this approach has two main drawbacks: first, it doesn't scale properly for large amount of items. And second, it loses the structure information of parent/child nodes. To solve the first problem: that's why there is a virtual treeview/listview since old days of Delphi. And the second one: it's easier to keep a small parallel structure of objects to keep the virtual treeview in sync. Just my two cents.

I used to be a Delphi developer and somehow an evangelist since its 1.0 version for Win 3.x days until version 2007, also going through the FPC era too. Honestly I don't think Delphi is worth using it anymore as there are plenty of more specialized and general-purpose coding environments out there for free. Greetings from Brazil!

Hi Igomesigomes, this is not a chanell for to discuss about using Delphi or not. This is a channel for people who are using Delphi and could perhaps need some tipps and tricks. But only a short remark: You missed a lot after Delphi 2007, from my point of view esspecially the new possibilities with the FireMonkey Framework, that enables one to develop apps for windows, macos, linux, ios and android. I've done cross plattform development some years before it was possible with Delphi. From my point of view Delphi is the best environment to cover all this plattforms. Greetings from Germany!
@igomesigomes Жыл бұрын
@@programmingwithdelphiI see, makes sense. It is interesting to see that there are still people using the platform and, naturally, it has undergone updates to compensate for all the deficiencies it had until then (even FPC was waaaay better than Delphi at that time), mainly because it still carried the old-fashioned RAD paradigm, which was a huge burden and a source of problems. I was a regular on the old Borland newsgroup and several TeamB members agreed exactly on the huge difference in vision between JB and C++B developers - where the focus was on developer control - while in Delphi the focus was on dragging components and changing properties , hoping that everything would work. I hope that changed as well.

Thank you for this 😊 I agree with you. The standard dialogs in FMX look really old fashion. It would be very nice to provide an even more up to date dialog : - FMX style - Modal or non-modal - Blur or faded background (Application overlay) covering the main form - Appearance & Disappearance with animations

Hallo, wie kann einen wert aus TGrid auslesen?
@programmingwithdelphi Жыл бұрын
Im TGrid selber werden ja keine Daten gespeichert, es dient letztlich nur zur Anzeige der Daten, die aus einer anderen Quelle stammen, z.B. eine Datenbank oder eine einfache Stringliste. Die Daten werden mit dem Grid dabei entweder mit dem Livebindings verknüpft oder man übergibt die Daten im Event "OnGetValue". Wenn man das mit der letzten Variante macht, könnte man zur Not auch selber diese Methode (eigentlich Event) aufrufen, um die entsprechenden Daten aus dem Grid aus einer bestimmten Zelle zu erhalten, z.B. so: procedure TForm13.btnGetValueFromGridClick(Sender: TObject); var VAlue: TValue; begin Grid1GetValue (Grid1, 1,2, value); // 1= Col, 2 = Row des Grids ShowMessage (value.ToString); end;
