My thinking is that the venom really stings and hurts a much larger animal: the human. Therefore, I’m wondering what it does to a smaller critter like a shark or grouper?

I did not see the big one jump. I would say the small one would jump if she crossed the big one's rooster. The 118 needed bigger seas to jump.

Lionfish hunting is stupid and a waste of time...the period this could have worked has long passed... training other predators to eat them could help but it will take a long time...and there's the vemon issue on top of that.

What's the immediate solution you propose? I mean, if divers just give up and say "Nah man... This is a waste of time" and stop hunting then it will reproduce faster than it actually does, isn't it? You are certainly an experienced diver but its lame to have to bring the fish to you. Go OBSERVE them as they are. I just don't understand some people. Retake your certification and pay attention to how you are supposed to be an ambassador of the ocean.
