Technically still something he should be proud of. "Prodigal" means he acts in a way his father doesn't approve of- in other words, he's becoming a different, better prosecutor than his father.

I do have an issue with this video, namely that it’s based on assumption that Manfred was an abusive father to Franziska, even though it's never explicitly stated in the games (and in the anime adaptation even contradicted in one episode). More about that in this video by Wendy Rocket: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3_Jn4qQlJKsoLssi=DnEpa9fXXOy3l-M-

Makes me sad that this is what you got from the video, that I imply that Manfred was abusive to Franziska, because there's not a single intention of that. The way it's built, I hoped the video (especially with Franziska's last speech) makes it clear that Franziska has no issues about any "abuse" from Manfred towards her, but for 1) his actions towards others (like the Edgeworths), and 2) for making her live her life under the delusion of the "Von Karma perfection", when Manfred himself was the lowest of lows After all, when confronted by Franziska, Manfred demands the respect he expects from his daughter (since she starts by acting hostile to him), and afterwards speaks to her with logical arguments. I thought that, at least, is clear in the video, that their relationship was not one of abuse (physical or mental), except Manfred pushing his impossible expectations on Franziska

@@debastiansebeste I'm sorry if my comment upset you. I think I should have explained my point better. The impression I got that you implied that Manfred was an abusive father came from how many people in the AA fandom seem to think Manfred was a bad father to both Miles and Franziska, as well as a few other things: 1) how they interacted in this video vs how I interpreted their relationship from the games, since in the games it seemed to me that Franziska still loved her father, or at the very least respected him, even after everything he did (like when Franziska called his father a genius in the ending of JFA) and vice versa. While here they verbally (or, in Franziska's case at the end, physically) assault each other. At least, that is the impression I got (thought the fact that many people in AA fandom, including some people in your comment section, call Manfred a groomer and a psychopath, didn’t help either). 2) I always imagined that Franziska (and maybe even Miles) chose to strife for perfection not because Manfred pushed impossible expectations on them, but because they respected him and his intellect, unaware of how depraved he truly is. This is especially apparent in the anime adaptation, in the episode Turnabout Melodies, where Manfred is shown to be a good father to both of his protégés. (And yes, I know the anime is mostly non-canon, but still) 3) I always imagined this interaction to be different and less hostile, namely I imagined that Manfred would admit, albeit begrudgingly, that he was wrong. Not for falsifying evidence, threatening witnesses/defendants or anything like that, but for letting his anger on Edgeworts get the better of him. And he would ask Franziska not to repeat his mistakes. While this video (again, no offense) seemed to me like the repeat of Sebastian's (or, Eustace, as he's now called in the official localization) character arc, where Blaise actually was a shitty father. Again, I deeply apologize if I made you upset, because I can imagine that you put a lot of effort into you videos, and I recommend you to watch Wendy's video about Mafred.
