Even more painful is that the whole P.I.C arc, or even the whole Investigation Spin-Off, is basically Shu Takumi trying to fix his mistake while writing Apollo Justice.

Apollo Justice and Investigation 1 story was written by Shu Takumi as a rough sketch for a possible continuation of the AA story, since he only plan to direct the trilogy only, and the have Yamazaki as a director to execute the idea. It wasn't until Investigation 2 that Shu was replace entirely and become a partial reason why we never got AAI2 localize, because the initial agreement was to localize Ace Attorney franchise under Shu's agreement.

What if Phoenix had just asked the judge to pose a question to Klavier, and asked: "How could the person who gave you the tip know I'd prepared this evidence?" There can only be two scenarios: Phoenix was the one who requested the forgery, and he told said person (which is an absurd action, therefore we discard this scenario) or the person who gave the tip requested the forgery, and somehow managed to give it to Wright. Boom, disbarment avoided, Kristoph goes to jail

Additionally, I think all Wright has to do is point out that there was a last minute change of attorneys so he wouldn't have been able to make the request in time. It should be noted that Apollo himself pointed this out in Turnabout Succession.

@@debastiansebeste In my opinion, the decisions made are mostly understandable when you realize that Zak was a terrible, cryptic, and non-cooperative client, and Wright didn't even get to so much as investigate before the trial. No doubt he was off his game by a notable margin, including being careless enough to present entirely unverified evidence, considering his naivete. Honestly, I'm more frustrated with the immediate and rash judgment from the judge concerning the matter. The man's seen Wright not just win (most of) his cases, but force organic confessions out of the true killers in virtually every case he's been a part of. It seems a huge face-turn to immediately believe that same attorney turned to forgery, of all things.

⁠​⁠​⁠@@starwarriorterra8373Yeah it might’ve made more sense if it was the Judge’s Brother (The one in Trials and Tribulations), the only other judge in the mainline games who doesn’t have as much of a connection with Phoenix therefore would be more believing of the accusations and thus more easy to see how Phoenix was disbarred and maybe some extra text on the circumstances Phoenix was placed in by his client (maybe even a small line of a lack of sleep if needed) and there. We have a fresh off Trials and Tribulations confident Phoenix with him having a shady client (and lackluster preparations even for him) going up against a newcomer of a prosecutor (who isn’t anything like Godot) with a judge he hadn’t (or barely) knows (and likewise the judge doesn’t know him) and once Phoenix presents the forged evidence it’s easier to see how Phoenix was disbarred. And here you go, a slightly easier to believe story of Phoenix’s disbarment

this is only tangentially related but I really am impressed at how you managed to pull off a convincingly fun dynamic between Jacques Portsman and Herlock sholmes. It sounds just as appealing a combo as peanut butter and water, but you managed to pull it off perfecty (even if they only have a handful of lines for each other most of the time)

Yeah, I was also pissed at how easily the Judge simply believed Drew Misham immediately over Wright. Like, the dude walks in, sees the page and says "yep, that's mine, I have a signature of mine on it", and the judge instantly goes "Mr. Wright you've betrayed my trust!" I dunno xD

Unlike other times, not only did he not find this evidence himself from his own investigation by searching places or asking people, he was unsolicitedly given it by some unknown girl, he didn't bother questioning who gave it to said girl, and just plunged head first right into chaos.

Everything is against him, to the point where I doubt "identifying Kristoph" would even be up for discussion afterwards

You know, real talk here. I have no legal knowledge, and maybe it was talked about here in the video already (i don't know yet), but while i don't think Phoneix Deserved to get disbarred for what happend, i DO think he needed to get punished. Think about it: He got evidence from at the time to be a complete stranger, that just so HAPPEND to somehow match perfectly in the diary, and he never bothered to check it's legitmacy. I don't see why he couldn't ask the judge or prosecution or both to be able to verify the evidence. Instead, he presented unferified evidence in a court of law. In other words, like phoneix said, he was careless, which is one of the WORST things you can be as an attonery. Now did he forge the paper? Of course not. But he still presented it without thinking of the potential problems that could arise from that. Although, like i said before, i have no legal knowlege myself, so take what i say here with a grain of salt, and hopefully i said nothing wrong and/or stupid here.

Well, like I've said before, the writing team was too focused on disbarring Phoenix, to the point where they just had every character in the courthouse being completely off character - Gumshoe completely antagonizing Phoenix despite their past in the Trilogy, the Judge not questioning whether Phoenix might be innocent even for a second, and especially Phoenix being a smug idiot who looks down on Klavier for his "inexperience" and is way too bent on winning. I just can't really take this trial seriously ngl lol

Supposedly (unless I'm mistaken), it wasn't publicly known for how long Zak Gramarye had hired Phoenix, same as it wasn't known that his first attorney was Kristoph Gavin. So I guess the judge would have to look for the dates of the contract Zak signed with Phoenix to ensure that Phoenix barely had time to get ready for the trial
