Definitely going to give that a try. I have a 30+ year old Pro1000 that I keep fixing as needed. Right now I have a sticky Case sensor to try to figure out next... That thing has paid for itself dozens of times over but she's getting moody-er as she gets older haha.

Thats an awesome simple make! Good idea! Love the plastic apple sause jug barrel idea! I'm making a large two teer tumbler, 36 inches long for my rock hobbie. I have a double 3lb harbor freight tumbler I currently use to tumble my rifle & pistol shells in. Don't care for Harbor freight machines, but have to say it works great just for tumbling my shells. I think I'm going to make me a small tumbler like yours. Love your invention! Keep up the good work! 👍

As to the media dust a couple of dryer sheets in the separator might help.
@sidneywhite749
@sidneywhite749 8 ай бұрын
Hi, I bought slightly used FA rotary separator assembly with instructions. It differs from yours : the bucket is notched for the handle but it works. However with the kit came a bucket lid and I don’t know it’s purpose. There is no mention of the bucket lid in the instructions. At first I thought I would store the media in the bucket but the U shaped cutouts for the handle and pivot are deep and with the lid on the bucket there is a large open space on each side. Part number645880. The media basket could be separated in half and the lid would fit. Did yours come with a lid?
@mshaw290808mi
@mshaw290808mi 8 ай бұрын
Yes mine did come with a lid. If you go to time stamp 3:08 you can see me clipping on blue supports to the side of the bucket for the barrel to spin in. The clips would slide on the rim of the bucket allowing the barrel to hit the side of the bucket. It was very frustrating when this would happen. So I ended up bolting the blue supports to the side of the bucket so they could not slide and of course now I can't get my lid on either. So I am guessing the slots in the bucket is an alternative to the method I chose to keep the barrel from hitting the side of the bucket.

My opinion LEE did not get the auto primer system right until the resent pro 6000. Mass detonation is not possible with the 6000, same prinsipp as with the Dillon

Wow....very innovative. I have three Lee M1000 (45 ACP, 38 special/357 mag, and 9mm) progressive presses. The M1000 pre-dates the Lee 1000 Pro. That being said, it's about the same thing. Speaking of 9mm reloading problems. That primer shaker. Yes, I've had the non-functioning shaking motion of the primer reservoir too. I solved that problem after noticing that my grooved support column had worn to a point of being flat. So, I turned the column a bit and viola. A fresh new surface, to bring the shake back. Put a new column on your "Parts To Buy List". Primer seating feeling. Yup, sometimes the primers will get crushed and go in sideways it was just difficult to tell what the problem was. But, I solved my problem (or gotten close to perfection) by decapping and swaging the primer pockets of ALL of my 9mm brass before running it through for reloading. It's especially important with "range pick ups". Apparently, the various brass manufacturers are really bad at keeping the primer pocket's spec consistent from brand to brand. As for your plastic mechanism that was made to keep weight on the primers and the alarm. Yes, primer feeding can sometimes be a problem. But, I've found that I only needed to ensure that the trough was kept loaded. So, I always keep the trough filled up. Don't left the level fall below 3/4 way below the top of the though. The weight of the primers in the trough is enough, until I get the empty reservoir refilled again. And, it doesn't hurt to also ensure that the plastic trough is free from burrs too.

BTW.....I have the Lee APP on the way. Hope it'll help with my brass processing. Especially with the decapping and primer pocket swaging. Hummmm......I might even sell off my Dillion 600 super swage if all goes well.

Nice work here but the priming system on the Pro 1000 is the weak link. Priming off-press is really the only way to retain your sanity while using this press

Yes I agree with you. The amount of time I put into the modifications does not warrant the time I saved. But I am a retired Mechanical Engineer so I enjoyed doing it, which is kind of a definition of a hobby😊. In a later video I do add gravity tube system to my Lee press that works quite well. It is similar to what Dillion uses. At the time I made it a not all gravity tube primer feeders were using a blast shield, now they all are. So if you are interested in making it you MUST add a blast shield. I will add the link here kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5yoqqyudrF_nqc.

I refuse to prime with my hand held primer tool. It defeats the idea/purpose of buying a "progressive press". Try swaging ALL of the primer pockets on ALL of your 9mm brass. Talking especially about/with the range pick ups. You'll be amazed at what the brass makers are doing and it's NOT LIMITED to a particular brand/headstamp of brass.

You have done a great job in getting the press to work to some extend, something I expect the factory should have done. Got a lee pro1000 which i regret every single time i use it mostly due to primer issues and honestly i dont have the time or patience to fiddle with something the manufacturer should have done in the first place. This is a very well known issue end lee just doesnt seem to care, so If asked i will never recommend their products. Guess you get what you pay for, should have gotten the dillon 750 instead. You have done a far better job in finding and fixing the very well known problems that Lee should have done. Thanks for sharing this great info so others can learn and try fix the failed system. Shame on Lee. Love your content cheerz

@mshaw290808mi
@mshaw290808mi Жыл бұрын
There are printing services that will print them for you, I have no idea how much they charge. I went through all of the hassle of making this design because I enjoyed the challenge. From all of my research I feel that the fastest, simplest and in the long term cheapest way is to buy a hand primer and prime out of the press. I feel Lee came to the same conclusion because some of their newer press designs have gone this route. Hope this helps, good luck reloading!

Hello, How many RPM’s is your motor? I am having trouble trying to decide how big a motor I should get. There are quite a few 12volt DC worm motors on eBay and the RPM’s for them vary from 6 to 150. I was even thinking about a blender motor but that might be too fast even on slow. I have most of the stuff I build my tumbler with in storage and will take hours to find it. Thanks for any advice you could give.

Presses that use the vertical tube primer feed surround the tube with a fixed explosion shield. I've seen a tube filled with primers detonate and even with the explosion shield in place, which also ruptured, the press operator needed surgery to repair the damage to his hand. It damaged his ceiling as well.

Thank you for your comment, I will add a shield to mine. I have had a detonation using the standard lee priming tray, it was a chain reaction that detonated 7 primers. Thankfully the chain reaction died out before making it to the round primer tray which was full. I did find a video showing a full tube detonation kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6SUipqCaM6tjbs .
