It's been a hot minute since I've built a truss style airplane (Guillows in the late '60s). I'm now getting ready to build a Lazy Bee fuselage from plans. 1/8" stringers. Can I/should I not, pin THROUGH the stringer to hold it in place?
@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz 20 күн бұрын
So glad you are jumping into another build. For 1/8" stringers I would recommend cross pinning instead of pinning through the stringer itself. Basically use 2 t-pins at 45 degree angles in a cross formation holding the stringer down.

A wing is not "stalled" during a Stall Turn! Check the definition in Basic Aeronautical Knowledge books
@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz 9 ай бұрын
This is true, since the angle of attack is not increased to prohibit the wing from producing lift. This is, however, a zero airspeed maneuver. So, since the plane is at zero airspeed and the wing is not producing any lift can we agree that calling it a stall is not completely absurd? Or do we argue over whether or not the wing is actually a wing in the moment?

@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz 10 ай бұрын
I appreciate you taking time to comment but do not see the correlation to this video. Yes, we recommend a well mixed aircraft (we have other videos on that), but even if you have the perfect mixes setup it won't help you if you can't give the proper inputs for rolling maneuvers.
@jasonthompson6267
@jasonthompson6267 10 ай бұрын
if this mix is on all the time, then every time i use my rudder this will also move my ailerons and elevator? so if i am taxiing out on the runway, or doing other maneuvers it will always move all controls? wouldn't that mess up other maneuvers? e.g. a stall turn. i am new to using mixes Thank you!
@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. Yes. We run the mix full time. The movements are very small so they will not affect other maneuvers. This is especially true in a full stall maneuver such as the stall turn. We are sure you will agree if you give it a shot.

Please do not use Loctite to retain the servo arm screw as they are hard to remove without using heat, Silicone over the screw once fitted works very well & is easier to remove & easier to remove screw when required.
@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. If you are having to use heat to remove Loctite, it is because you are using the red kind. If you use blue Loctite, heat is not required. After years of using blue Loctite, I have never had an issue removing the arm. I have used the silicone method in the past but prefer the cleaner look of Loctite personally.

If you are using the wrong Loctite, please get someone that knows what they are doing to do the job for you, like the pro in this video. It’s supposed to be hard to remove. That’s why you use Loctite 😂.

I'll have to try constant throttle next time. I've been trying the hammerhead in DCS World in the F-14B. The big issue is that the 14 is a big bird and even at 50-70 knots, I've got next to zero authority with the rudder. I've been putting burner in on one engine to get it to rotate. Constant throttle would help on spool time on the opposite engine for helping counter rotate along with being more smooth on the way up. I should defuel a bit and figure out a lower minimum recovery too. Thicker air might help because 15000 AGL may be too thin. I'll keep working on it.
@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz Жыл бұрын
I like the differential thrust approach. Remember, with a turbing aircraft the air is not flowing over the rudder as it would be on a propeller plane.

Roll from upright: top rudder input is always opposite of aileron input. Roll from inverted: top rudder input is always the same as aileron input.

Correct. Thank you for our comment.

Something I remember is regardless of the direction. When you enter a roll the rudder is always opposite to aileron. So if it left aileron, it is always right rudder. Right aileron is always left rudder.
@FlightReviewz
@FlightReviewz Жыл бұрын
This is 100% true when starting upright. When you roll to knife edge from inverted the rudder will be the same direction as the aileron.
