Anyone tried this ? i was told to use a socket but they didn't say about the collar retracts so socket just twisted, i had to grind the socket off. The other was to chisel the collar off and try another smaller socket as collar now removed. This looks way easier

Greetings to everyone with a 4x4 drive, I have a golf 5, 4 motion. I was just at the mechanic who hooked me up to VCDS and found out it was the pump. It happened that the car was working normally and after five minutes of operation it turned on the ESP and turned off the rear drive, on the second diagnosis I had error 01324, so the next step is to clean the pump. Weird that people in professional garages are saying they can't torque the bolts to full factory spec. I'm just a DIYer working on my driveway, but I've got those bolts to 180Nm plus another 180 degrees. The initial 180Nm is easy enough, the 180 degrees takes a few minutes, but I'm just using a regular ½" breaker bar and a long piece of old exhaust pipe that I keep around specifically for when I need serious leverage.

Nice install - as usuall a LOT of hidden work goes into jobs like this - can you not raise the roof ?? My mate built a 2 story extension on his house there was nothing upstairs - but he could lift a van in it height wise !!! It was cheaper than renting premisis or buying a garage miles from where he lived - when he gets sick he just washes his hands & goes to bed !! LOL

Appreciate the info in the video, im a competant mechanic, but the astra im servicing is a new vehicle to me, i found the filter but its handy to know theres not gallons of fuel going to pour out when its removed, and the priming process, easy, but only when you know 👍

I suspect the seized calipers might cause the issue with the wheel bearing. I've just replaced the rear caliper on one side and now i can hear the bearing has gone. I suspect that when the bearing has the extra drag of the caliper squeezing it, then it gets damaged over time

I have a feeling that's an extra pump you run with vcds. You can hear it spinning up to 3000 rpm and when at 600 rpm the readings still show 3000. Could be a slight difference in the level vs just the engine running. Maybe worth testing if an extra drop come out when you turn that one off. Thanks for the video, got mine sorted this week.

Excellent and very informative video on accessing and replacing either spring or spring mount/base. You are clearly working on a front-wheel drive A4. Will this procedure work also on quattro models -- i.e., with obstructions of driveshaft and differential? Is there enough room to use the squeezer and remove the spring and base assembly? Cheers.
