It's ok for background mode track but It's not a perfect theme for a movie for several reasons; the melody has no hook, the verse is too slow and complex to be memorable. No one will come out of the theater humming it.

All the fawning in the video as well as the comments are nauseously clueless. I'm a diehard Radiohead fan (In the Basement KOTL, esp Separator and Codex play on repeat in my house), and even I can tell you: within 1 second of hearing Thom's voice (5:03), it is unfortunately neither masculine nor sultry feminine (see Sherly's Crow's Tomorrow Never Dies theme song). There is no way that Thom's voice, as uniquely rapturous to us fans as it may be, suits ANY aspect of a James Bond's life. It is a zero-testosterone angsty whine that destroys all credibility of the franchise, and I would have nixed it, too. Mind you, I say this as a fan who ardently believes Thom is probably in the 100 greatest artists in the past 100 years.

Another musical callback in the trilogy that I noticed while learning some songs on piano, the chord progression that plays after Gandalf falls to the Balrog in the first movie (I'm not well versed in music, but I think the progression is iv, VI, I, V) is only played twice in the entire trilogy, once in that scene when Gandalf dies, and the second time at the Grey Havens when Gandalf says goodbye to the hobbits. Even the melody behind is similar. They're played in a different key. The first when Gandalf falls, played by a choir, evokes feelings of loss and grief (death) while the second at the Grey Havens, played by strings, gives feelings of nostalgia and letting go.
The perfect Bond theme? Please. Not even close. Goldfinger is the gold standard of Bond themes and always will be.

The people who make the decisions are least equipped to make good decisions. It's a recurring theme all over our society.

that 1:50 sound is so freakin powerfully creepy, it's in Twister as well, it makes you hold your breathe when you hear it

Might've been nice to listen to the song without you talking all over it.

Maybe a good song, but writing on the wall was infinitely better at least as a bond song for that specific movie too

Nothing Else by Archive Now that's a song I've always thought would make a great Bond Theme

It's the wrong film. It is too sad of a song, for Spectre, that style of song for No Time to Die would be so good. A Radiohead depressing song about how James Bond dies.

Do you know where I could find an English translation of the 7th volume of the treatise of rhythm, colour, and birdsong? I have found one of volume 1 translated by Melody Baggech, but am unable to find one of volume 7.

What a dreadful decision this was. We all talked about Portishead doing Bond once upon a time, but Radiohead were the real deal. Their version of ‘Nobody Does it Better’ was all the proof needed. This would have saved Spectre….Sam Smith was the start of the end for a British institution. What a catastrophic error.

Very strange word choice throughout the video lol but I agree that Howard Shore and Fran Walsh did something that revealed in every heart that desire to see that “far green country”

As a fan of both Bond and Radiohead, when I first heard Spectre, I was absolutely obsessed. I was traveling often and there was nothing quite like walking down empty airport terminals, looking out plane windows, taking taxis to random hotels all over Southeast Asia with this as the soundtrack.

Meh. It’s average. I only liked their first three albums. Found them wishy and washy after that. So much over analysis of an average song.
