lots of lifting in this piece, one tired dancer after all this, still very beautiful and music also.

Wow! The Balcony Pas really captures a very teenager and naive type of love.

I just love Lauren Cuthbertson. I think she is highly underrated. I love her delicacy and grace. I hope she is paired more with Vadim the Dream! ❤️

Oh my god, this is great. Eddie really did carry the flame, sometimes better than Martins in my opinion.

@@sybedijkstra1 his sense of humour? lightness? he knows how to make a dancer feel comfortable with his steps. he encourages and supports choices, but without loosing track and control of his work and intentions.

Poor Sergei Sergeyevich . . . this was to be his way of re-entering Russian/Soviet life, and while the ballet was well-received, it didn't protect him from the brutality of Stalin's dictatorship. How ironic that this great composer and one of the worst dictators of the 20th Century died on the same day. But, as to the ballet: Stunning . . . ab-so-lute-ly stunning! The Danes are fortunate to have such an incredibly talented ballet company! The leads were perfection itself; Ida Praetorius was the young Juliet to a T, looking very youthful, and Andreas Kaas was the quintessential Romeo, equally fresh and young . . . and my new heartthrob! If anyone needs a picture of male beauty, Andreas is my candidate. How fortunate the Danes are to see these fabulous dancers (by which I mean the entire company) on a regular basis. Bravo to them all!

Resolved to watch all three parts of this in succession; nine minutes in and I'm already in love with the production - such attention to detail, including the shabbiness of the friar's robe - a man who takes his vow of poverty to heart.
@richardcleveland85499 ай бұрын
As the action progresses, I keep seeing vignettes worthy of note - such as starting at about 35:30, when the three young boys appear with their long-necked instruments - guitars? Mandolins? It's a lovely and charming touch - and in closeups, the boys are plucking the strings, though whether they're producing the sound or the orchestra is (the latter, I think), the effect is wonderful. More kudos to the Danes!

This is an absolutely wonderful production! The cast is young (or at least looks young!), the two principals are a dream . . . and Mercutio and Benvolio are wonderful!. The capering about of the three young men starting at about 29:15 is glorious; high spirited, carefree, joyous - they have the world by the tail, and they're an absolute joy to watch! Bravo to them and to the Royal Danish Ballet! How I would love to have been in the theatre that night to witness this magnificent performance! The (multi-national) Danes REALLY know how to dance!

An uncommonly attractive group of male dancers . . . and Romeo is absolutely transcendent - this dancer was made for the role.
