Back in 1982 I flew with fellow Kubota Dealers from Tokyo to London on a DC8 refueling in Moscow. Anchorage was snowbound although we had refueled there a week earlier. It was a very long version of the DC8 with six projector screens for the in flight movie. The Cannon Ball Run. It was early March. All we saw out of the window was snow. High in the clouds it was very smooth.

This is so great to watch, especially without all the mostly unnecessary, obnoxious, and redundant narration you usually get with these kinds of things. These cheesy 90s synth music just makes it that much better 😊

Love this video! Thanks so much for sharing. The bowling shoe livery has got to be the best livery on an aircraft, especially the 747, 727 and DC-10. Probably best logo too - I've always loved the many images-in-one ("N", "W" and compass that points northwest 😍)

The visuals on them simulators were pretty amazing for that time, I'm guessing this was 80s or early 90s.. yet we had to wait till 1997 to get something similar or at least 96. Gone all weird now though because 20 years ago we had ATC and various other features that have vanished from the later flightsims or have not been as well done xD but killer graphics..

@31:10 the Japanese are so freaking sweet. We make fun of our domestic airlines but the Japanese show such an appreciation for how far we have come in creating and pioneering this industry. And @11:26 was awesome people watching of MSP in the 90s. Anyways God bless Japan and God bless the USA

Thanks for this video !! I especially lpved the pilots doing their checklist in the cockpit. I sorely miss Northwest and all the airlines that have have gone out of business or merged. I miss the glory days of aviation. There must be some way, that we can get back the fun and excitement of air travel again.😔

Great to see 757s without winglets !!!❤ And the Air Tahiti Nui A340 had one of the most beautiful liveries. ❤❤❤ The American Airlines " aluminum can" livery was so stunning !!! I hated that the company changed it to those red and blue " piano keys".😮 Did you work at LAX ? Because I noticed that this footage was on the tarmac. What was your job ?

I would give my right tit to even see one in person. I’m from the Scottish highlands and have never flown in anything but work and coastguard helicopters and poxy wee a319/20s. To fly on a 747 of any variant would be amazing, but the SP is something very special.

I didn’t want this video to end. Such amazing footage. I’d just started my airline career (Sept 2001) on the ramp. Did it for 2 years and then became an FA. Ramp views were the absolute best. I miss the Silver AA livery so much. And Northwest - like seeing an old friend. The industry is so drab compared to how it used to be. This era was the beginning of the end for many airlines. Thanks for sharing.

They really were absolutely beautiful aircraft, comparible only to 747 and Concorde in their uniqueness and ability to awe. I rewatched those pilots so many times just so impressed with seeing how well they knew their aircraft, it was like they were all a part of it, they were really flying it.
