Put together in 2009 for the Carson, California Goodyear Blimp Airship base, this video gives you an insight to the ground crew job, including hand signals. Now that the GZ20 Airships have been replaced by the new Zeppelin NT, this video is no longer applicable.

Oh my! This brought back so many memories of my dad doing this! He was chief mechanic but always helped the ground crew. In Miami from 1960-1963. And California from 1963-1989. When he was dying in 2004 he was going in and out of consciousness at one point he said "C'mon guys. We have to go out there and hold the line!" And when the blimp was ready to take off, the guys holding the railings around the bottom of the gondola and 1-2-3 jump! I miss him dearly! 💗 As the daughter of a respected crew member I had the good fortune of going up about 20 times over the years.

@@punchline43 Missing me too. In Rome, I had the GZ20 Europe N2A. The crew has already stopped, They work with a helicopter disguised as an airship.

Sean's Myth : Yeah me too! I missed the BLIMP too I got to fly in it three times! First time was in 1964 the Columbia, second time was 2008 spirit of innovation I believe the 3rd. Time was spirit of America in 2015 or maybe it was 2013,, I don’t remember I have it written down somewhere anyway what an experience!Not all that many people get to experience! My pilot in 1964 was Roy Belotti. My pilot in 2008 was Kristin Davis, my pilot in 2015 (13?!) was Taylor Deen! I was very lucky! Yeah the Europa N2-A, Was a beautiful ship but I guess you have a new Goodyear “N T Zeppelin” in Europe now
