The boat's steaming in, oh, I watch the sidewheel spin, And I think about her when I hear that whistle blow. I can't change my mind, oh, I knew all the time that she'd go, That's a choice I made long ago. 😁

Wonderful film and models. I have three myself. Does the club still exist? Will there be a 2023 Spring Show? Thanks for the memories. Rmb

Are these powered by steam ? If not, isn't the club misnamed ?
@hdsdi Жыл бұрын
Hi Lyndar, thanks for taking the time to comment. The term Steamer refers to the full size ships that were such a huge part of the river Clyde's history. The Clyde Steamer fleet was made up of paddle and turbine Steamers. Pleasure steamers designed to carry passengers on day and shorter cruises on the Clyde estuary The ships that are represented here in model form are indeed electric powered. The Club's name refers to the generic term that these ships were fondly referred to by those that sailed on them. The tradition of these pleasure steamer cruises can still be experienced today aboard the Waverley. The last sea going paddle steamer in the world.

@@hdsdi yes. I cruised the Waverley to Southend last month. Beautiful experience. What a pity there are no steam-powered models, but I guess they would be a lot of trouble……

Great stuff! And Congratulations to all the builders of these fine models. From one who earned his living under the glorious red duster. PS Pls keep scale speeds for ferries under 50 knots. TQ

The ''real'' ship was built in my hometown Langesund in Norway. She is one of the last passenger ferries ever made by the Shypyard. Ths shipyard is now gone. I Still live in Langesund, so many pictures from the shipyard is hanging around in the library :-D . I Love this model, makes great memories !!
@hdsdi5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to comment on the film and model. I am interested to learn more about the yard where she was built. Sorry to hear she was the last passenger ship built there. I have found one picture of her shortly after launch. I would be very interested in any other information or pictures of the ship being built. Maybe one day I could visit Langesund myself. Thank you again for commenting. Kind regards Andrew
