Ben b160 losing power and gears getting stuck

This is awesome I have been having similar problem on my A170 CDI. You have really saved the world from heavy spendings to our local Garages many times they do solve problem other way round and you get home with same problems.

The ground clearance of this thing up front is horrendous, I know they wanted to fix the moose test disaster but this suspension is ROCK HARD

Hi, I have a B200 2009 automatic (w245 with 722.8 transmission). I’m having a weird problem. If I leave the car running while in park for few minutes then drive, it would shudder and not pick up speed. If I turn the car off then on again, problem disappears! I can easily recreate the problem by running while transmission in park for few minutes. I did that and started to shudder. As I was driving, I shifted to Manual control. I found out that if I shift to lower gear (rpm above 3000), problems is gone, but if I shift to higher gear (below 3000 rpm), problem comes back! I’m not sure if it is a valve body, TCM, torque converter or something else. I think I need to fix it before it gets worse. thank you for your help

I got that ticking noise as well and thought thats the chain or tensioner. Im surprised that its normal and that it should be there. Thanks for the information.

When i start my w169, i have for about 1 to 2 sec. a noise coming from under the airfilter box. It occurs only with cold start. Do you have any idea what this might be? I have a record of that sound as well, i got it uploaded on my channel as a short vid.

Hi everyone!. I have a Benz A170, W169, year 2005, still running and serviced regularly. The issue with the car presently, is that when starting (fresh from rest), the transmission is somewhat 'choked' and the drive reduced. The indication then is 'Transmission..'. But, once the engine is turned off (obviously) and started anew , after a few minutes, everything works properly. When 'warm', car is ok. Recently, this has happened more than once during the same journey, after 'fresh' start. Again, after turn-off and turned back on after a few minutes, it worked good! The fluid level is ok too. Note that this only happens after 'cold' start. System hot - no problem. If anyone could comment and share similar experience, it will enable me to understand the issue, please. Many thanks!!!

Good afternoon Mr. Sevan. How did you put back the valve cover ? Because there is no gasket, so you need silicon, the mine is leaking on the belt side qnd going up to the coil wires, and I have to do the job on my car. It's said 24 hours of cure isn't it ? Thank you W245 B200 2006 near 200K

Hi, great videos and tips. I have an issue with the gear selector mechanism in my w169 A160 petrol, 5 gear manual gearbox. The reverse lights are always on and have been told the selector mechanism is stuck. I was wandering if it can be removed without the need to remove the gearbox? If yes, are there any risks of causing further damage to the gearbox or elsewhere?

I would really like to have the wiring colour diagram for the rear lights. My wife's A180 has encountered the tail lights and reverse lights to stop working following changing the computer and ECU unit. Car runs great, just absent of a few lights at the rear, and many lights illuminated on the dash! I will get to the end of this one day.

Just caused by aging... very logical, that all the oil drips down when cooling/parking the car for days or weeks, there is in no way any oil in the timer chain tensioner.. when starting the oil is cold and thicker.. thus it takes a second or what to fully fill all lines tensioner, camshaft oil line and so on... and the sound is gone.. those parts just get dirty over time clogging all holes making them smaller..(not that it doesn't work) but takes longer to fillup... so.. this is why you have to frequently, frequently ..refresh oil and filters.. a new tensioner will just be filled up faster before it starts knocking or getting play.... as a old one does...

Those aren't factory fitted on my 2011 w169

I googled the problem and there you are! You look extremely experienced with these cars. I have the same problem with my 2006 W169 A170, no drive but I did the test and the drive shaft is not moving. Is it the gearbox? Car has only 60000 miles.Just bought the car, so a bidesperate. Please give suggestions.
