@JohannesLee hi was wondering did you take your dog abroad to shanghai or did you get your dog in shanghai. Reason im asking is im hoping to move over to live in shanghai too and would like to bring my dog with me in a new chapter of my life. Do you have any advice on bringing pets into shanghai? Much appreciated.
@JohannesLeeКүн бұрын
Hey glad you are bringing your pet. For me though, all my pets were rescued here in China so not so much experience in bringing a pet into the country. But to my understanding it depends if you let has a microchip and which country it's coming from. Sorry not much help!

Finally an interior KZbinr who cares about Feng Shui!! I keep looking at all these western KZbinrs and their beautiful homes but they have terrible Feng Shui and it really bothers me because I just know these people are living in qi pathways all over the space….. one thing though is I think you should move the lamp and vase with tall twigs off the sideboard behind the sofa. They interrupt the line of sight into the balcony and makes the space look cluttered. Noah Daniel talks a lot about how you also need to make space for the eye to rest and I think this would help with that. Also the mirror should go on the wall instead of stood in the corner imo. It breaks up the clean lines of the space and creates floor clutter. Otherwise I love your space so much!!!!

Johannes, first excellent video and I am certain this channel will grow rapidly in the not too distant future. One topic that I believe that needs to be expanded on, especially regarding expats is - Visas. When I first moved to Shanghai in 08 - I worked for a bank and had a standard work visa. But when came back in 2011 - my wife and I bought "business visas" from some consultancy on chengdu lu - 5000 RMB each for 12 month multiple entry 90 days at a time, so we secured this visa twice - allowing us to live in shanghai for almost 3 years. As you can imagine, in the "Expat Heyday" there were many many foreigners "trying their luck" in Shanghai chasing the China dream, many on sketchy visas or doing regular visas runs. Long story short is - what is the current atmopshere of securing visas to be a resident of Shanghai / China in 2024? Many thanks - Gordon
@JohannesLeeАй бұрын
Hi Gordon! Those were they heyday indeed! To my understanding based on my chat with hr especially when it comes to spouses or partner coming to China. Spousal visa is easy of course for gay partners they have to find an employer who can sponsor the visa. To my understanding attaining a work visa is for sure more difficult. I dont hear much of this type of business visa for people living here anymore as it is risky and I do hear stories of people being questioned at the immigration after xx number times coming back to the country. Not sure if this is helpful though! But thank you for the great feedback, highly appreciate it!
@GSThaiАй бұрын
@@JohannesLee That business visa was an example of the old style Shanghai - some under the table project by the immigration bureau. The visas somehow were issued by the consulate in LA

Does the pothos have a liner underneath? Sometimes yellowing means too wet or too dry. If it's sitting in a liner, just fill the liner and not directly on top of the soil so it'll absorb water when it's thirsty. Pothos can also do well being moist and not too wet. If you have a moister meter, meter the soil's moister level and see if its too wet or dry. It's a great tool to have to read the soil's moisture level on house plants! Your balcony came out great!

How much do you need to earn to be able to afford to spend 30k a month on rent (or are there 3 of you splitting the rent)? I remember being an English teacher in Shanghai 10 years ago, I was earning 14k a month, I thought I was rich! (and comparatively, I was!) Times have changed. Rent is so much more expensive now. It's depressing, I couldn't afford to move back to my favourite city.

Hello! Before I had a partner I was mostly with flatmates especially when I was just starting I want to be closer to down town too! I think the beauty of Shanghai is that you get to choose how you live. Definitely can get something bigger and cheaper if it's further away from the city center like jingan or xuhui district.
