Amazing work dude. I reckon you could fs 180 that next?? As for what I'm battling....tail stalls. just can't get my head round that trick! 🤘🛹👍
@OldBrokenSkater2 күн бұрын
I was dreaming about the bs or fs 180 it...hopefully when the snow melts here I'll give it a go. For tails stalls, its on transition right? If so I'll try and whip up a video in the next few days to give you the visual and explanation of what works really good. I have the garage mini now so should be able to put something together. You're basically there based on your session 3 video.

I find frontside 180 so awkward, some good tips here. I reckon you'll be adding a kickflip to those backside 180's soon dude! 🛹🤘👍
@OldBrokenSkater3 күн бұрын
The frontside 180s are super awkward, which is strange since I could do them so crispy back when I was younger. Really, really want to add flips to these, but I gotta keep doing mobility-type exercises to bring my knees a bit higher. I’ve tried a few here and there and need like 2 more inches of height. Need those young knees again 😂

@OldBrokenSkater5 күн бұрын
I'll try to keep adding drills to some videos. They're pretty helpful for developing more board feel and just spending more time on the board. Don't worry about progressing fast-if you're having fun while you're doing it, the progress will come.

Bs 180... I've never comfortably done one.. struggle every time. Can't wait for warm and dry
@OldBrokenSkater7 күн бұрын
I don't know what happened, but for some reason, these just started to click. The FS ones are now my weak ones, which is strange since I had them good back in the day. I hear yea on the warm and dry, we're about to get 4 to 6" of snow, and it's been frigid. Finally making progress on getting basement area setup, thanks for the inspiration!!

@OldBrokenSkater8 күн бұрын
Thank you!!! Been loving the hips lately, super fun...as long as they aren't to steep 😂
@RedBoard868 күн бұрын
A tip for everyone that I've only heard on ONE video out of the many tutorials: You're not ollying into fakie, you're ollying into switch. That comes with a change of how you balance on your feet Now for something I see you doing. For FS, you're looking where you're going to land. For BS, you're looking where you're taking off. So on FS, you're turning your head to spot the landing, and for BS, you're not turning your head ahead of your shoulders, so I think it's causing a lag in your turning (that and BS just feels weird turning to the blindside)
@OldBrokenSkater8 күн бұрын
That's a super good tip and a great way to reframe, especially since we should be trying out switch 😎. For my looking and not looking, I've been really focusing on spotting the landing for both. This one is a struggle for me-sometimes I do it, sometimes I don’t. But you can definitely see the differences, even on landed ones, between when I’m spotting my landing and when I’m not. Interesting thing-when I started doing them, I used to always look directly at the board. As I got more comfortable, I’ve been able to try and spot the landing. However, if I look at my board now, I don’t even come close to landing it. So strange how all of that works. Thanks for the feedback!!!

Thanks! Been really geeking out over movements, positioning, and just overall how things work. Funny-when I was younger, I never gave it a thought, but now it’s like the key to unlocking new tricks and evolving current ones.

FS18 such a nice feeling trick when you get them, I need to try on a hip next yours look 🔥!
@OldBrokenSkater8 күн бұрын
Super rewarding trick. I used to be so good at them and could get them high. For some reason, this time around, I do way better with the BS ones. I've been loving the hip and bank to flat-it gives so much confidence. I think it's because you're essentially giving your ollie a boost. Highly recommend it! If not the hip, definitely try the bank to flat.

First off, congrats on losing the weight, man-such an incredible achievement!! 🙌 Awesome to hear you got a board too; it's been so epic to skate again! I think in time the gravity fear will subside, but it'll probably resurface when you start trying to act like a kid again 😂. I always gotta keep the kid in me in check-he didn’t have as many bills as I do now, lol. Glad Fat Dad sent you over; I love skating with him and just talking skate.
