It’s like you read my mind. I spent the last few minutes of my morning practicing ollies to fakie on my inclined driveway and axle stalls on the step up of our walkway.

All the little bits count 🙌. It may seem like I get a lot of park time, but I actually get twice as many short morning or afternoon practice sessions after all the dad and adulting stuff. It all counts, and any time on a board is time spent improving board feel. Even when its freezinggggggg

Just got back into skating this month and I’m making more progress than I did as a teen Your channel is so chill and helpful dude!

Yea man, welcome back 🙌 It's insane and only gets so much better the more time you spend on the board. Been back about 7 months after 20+ years and knee issues. Same thing-I feel like I've been able to do more than when I was a kid, and it's so rewarding when you get something new. Glad you enjoy the channel!!!

The 50-50s on the ledge were awesome. And a pretty nice way to slowly step up the difficulty. You have a decent length on flat for beginners, and then you can go longer and get higher and higher drops. Wish my local had something similar I have a hard time with stationary tricks. I can't ollie or manual as well stationary vs actually rolling

Love the ledge box/manny pad at this park! It goes from 4 inches to about 3 feet, allowing for that step-up. I'm right there with you-stationary tricks are difficult, and the same goes for trying things slower. I've always been used to the "just do it with speed" method, but I'm starting to realize it doesn't always work for me. The stationary and slow rolls have been helping me improve at catching my falls-my wrists and hips are pretty happy with that 😂.

Awesome video. Your boardslides are looking so clean dude. I reckon you got nose manuals across that manny pad next! 👍🤘🛹

Thanks, bro!! Yeah, hoping to work up to nose mannys on and off the end-maybe even a trick out of a manny 🤞

Manuals are something I need to start work on now I can comfortably ollie up and onto the pads!
@OldBrokenSkater6 күн бұрын
Add them into your runs here and there, or in between tricks. Kinda like hippie jumps, they’re such a solid foundational trick that gives us so many benefits.

I do those stationary manuals all the time, I just think its fun to see how long I can hold it for so much fun!! Manuals I think are by far my favorite trick I really need to work on nose manuals, fakies feel fine but for some reason nose manuals just feel strange I'd much rather go backwards! LOL Also filled out your form brother, just keep doing what you're doing, you got an incredibly positive attitude and that goes a long way!

Try doing a switch manual, but don't think of it as a nose manual in your head, even though, in theory, it's very similar. Do them stationary here and there, then test out your regular nose manual. The fakie thing is too funny-I can ollie higher and do a few tricks fakie that I can't normally do. It's bizarre. Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it!!!!!

Great session. I'm going to start with more switch this year too.🤙🏼
@OldBrokenSkater7 күн бұрын
Hell yeah man 🙌 It's not necessarily about doing new switch tricks, although that's an added bonus. It's more about giving us that board feel, confidence, and expanding our balance. It'll come in super handy on transition too! Thanks, bro!!!

Such a good clean video man. You’re such a natural at teaching and explaining things. How far did you have to drive for that park?
@OldBrokenSkater6 күн бұрын
Thanks!! Really appreciate it! This park is about 45-50 minutes away. I really need to make more time to get here. It has a great variety of things, except a mini ramp-which is fine since I have one closer to home for those days.

Great vid Miguel and Happy New Year mate! The Ollie to manny looks great and I agree they do feel nice. I’m going to work on them after the couple I got on my last crusty sesh a couple weeks ago. You make light work of those rail slides too 🤯 What size deck do you ride mate and is it a pop shape? I can’t decide what width I prefer but I want to get a new set up 👊🏻
@OldBrokenSkater6 күн бұрын
Happy New Year!!! Welcome to 2025!!! Rails are surprisingly still my favorite thing. All my friends were super good at flip tricks, and I had to make up for my shortcoming with rails and transition skating 😂. The deck I've been riding is 8.8 inches wide, 32.4 inches long, with a wheelbase of 14.5 inches. It has a unique shape to it and is a little broader than a popsicle but doesn’t have a narrow nose or tail like an egg. They are slightly squared-off yet rounded. It's a great board for transition skating, but it lacks a bit for street-type skating. The concave is medium, then steep towards the nose. With all that said, it’s a great board, but I’m going to start skating a popsicle board again soon. Having tried all kinds of shapes, I’m going to stick to a width of 8.5 (minimum) and no bigger than 8.8. I think that’s a good width area for transition skating and tricks while maintaining maneuverability. You can check the deck out on the Welcome Skateboards website. Any deck with the shape "Sphynx." They usually don’t put too many out, and the graphics are an acquired taste 😂. welcomeskateboards.com/search?q=Sphynx&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

@ Thanks for the info buddy, il take a look at that link. I’m toying with sticking with either 8.25 or 8.5 popsicle but think il have to take both old set ups out to remind myself which I prefer although my opinion changes weekly 🤣
@OldBrokenSkater5 күн бұрын
This is a difficult choice for me too. I know I want to ride the popsicle, but I also know I'll have to bring along the old setup 😂. I guess that's not a bad problem to have nowadays.

Subbed bro, good shit, been working on my mannys too but the parks here don't have any good pads
@OldBrokenSkater6 күн бұрын
Thanks, man!! Welcome to my madness 😂. This park has the closest manny pad to me, about a 45-50 min drive. I made one I use in the driveway to practice from time to time. It's literally made of 2x4s and a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Nice and low to practice all the manuals and work up to doing tricks onto bigger manual pads. Not sure how much space you have, but you could go that route or cut it to 3' wide and have it 8' long. I wouldn’t sacrifice the length-I find that 8' length for mannys, rails, and ledges gives me time. I had a 6' manny pad before, but it was just way too short.

@@OldBrokenSkater unfortunately i live up on a mountain and there is no flat ground anywhere up here haha and any manny pad i built would be too long. i could level my yard but the quotes i got for that were like $10k + for even a small area, rip there are a few decent street spots about a 15 minute drive away that are curb high though! i posted one on my shorts recently lol

Bummer, man-10k buys a lot of other things. But damn, Hawaii looks nice for skating! Went there many years ago, hung out in Waikiki, and then took a cruise ship over to Kauai. Only surfed-wasn't skating at the time. The manny pad looks pretty fun, and a lot of the other spots do too. You've got a bunch of sick tricks down, and the hip progress is 🔥. Great skating!!!
